A few days ago I heard some very wise words indeed – I'm going to share them with you.
Snuggling up to my daughter saying our goodnights, she asked me about 'sexy love'. She wanted to know about boyfriends and girlfriends, about A and me.
We had our discussion and then I asked if she would like a boyfriend. 'Yes', she replied immediately. I asked if she was thinking about anyone in particular. She said 'yes, Billy', but then went on to explain how he would never become her boyfriend, and listed the reasons.
1. He sits on a different table. 2. He stays sandwiches. 3. He plays football and lunchtime. 4. He's doesn't go to karate, and.... 5. Although he does sing in the same choir as her – he's in another row.
Well, what could I say? The girl had it all worked out. 'It would never work' she said, 'because of all those problems'.
I asked if anyone else would be more suitable, maybe a boy on her table? No, of course not – she's not having second best, so she's going to stay single.
That's my girl! ![]()
'mini Mel and Billy' sadder than Romeo and Juliet.
