Hi all. Anyone know of any high heel shoes or boots for men that don't look like women's shoe's or boots? Women's legs are not the only ones that look good in heels but cross-dressing isn't our thing.

There is some heeled footwear designed specifically for men. Many cowboy boots have a small heel and there are some designers such as Jeffrey Campbell who will do it at a price. If you are size UK9 or less then there's a wide choice of commonplace footwear, sold nominally to women, with 2" to 3" block heels which can be worn out and about without causing any comment. For example I have a pair of Next ankle boots with 2.5" heel which I could wear anywhere. Also a pair of Hush Puppies wedge ankle boots, again about 2.5" heel, which are amongst the most comfortable footwear I own. While I wear high heels routinely I wouldn't call myself a cross dresser. I'd call it fashion freedom. The term "freestyling" is also one I've seen used. If you want to wear 5" stiletto pumps to go shopping at Tesco then that is your choice but remember that not many women do that and even fewer look good that way. I'll stick to conservative styles except in a club environment where anything goes. I've been admired by pervs of all genders at clubs when wearing my Demonia boots with 5" heel and 3" platform. There's a lot of useful stuff about men wearing heels on http://www.hhplace.org/ Please note this is a fashion orientated forum and frowns on anything beyond the mildest of kink. Yuk, elevator shoes. Not quite what the OP was looking for I think. You'd have to be pretty confident to do this look. These guys can make it work: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-205030... Personally I don't like this look but if that's what he likes then no problem: http://highheelspassion.blogspot.com/search/labe... Again, what you'd wear at Tesco is different to what you'd wear for a night out on the town. Different again to what you might wear to a kinky club. If you're built like a brick outhouse I'd venture to say that stilettos would not be a good look. If you're slim and possibly a bit androgynous looking anyway it's a lot easier to push the boundaries and still look good. You often don't have to look very hard to see women who haven't worked out how to look good in heels. Whatever heels you choose, please make sure you can walk well in them. Very few people look good when tottering and tripping.

Oh yes! Men in heels. Those chaps in the first link looked great, except the rolled up trousers looked stupid. Ditto the above posts regarding tottering about in stilettos, not a good look. New Look do up to size 8, I think, and have some good styles. We went to Alternative Footwear the other day, which cater for larger sizes. You may find they are a bit Lap Dancer/ Tart style shoes, (Felicity Maid would LOVE them!) rather than everyday practical styles, but have a look anyway. Their sizing is very strange, and some of the shoes look better on the screen than in the flesh, so be sure to check before buying online. MH

Yeah, there are no shortage of options for getting women's shoes in large sizes (actually I must admit to quite wanting a pair of leather ankle books!) but we are looking for something more like a standard mens DocMartin boot but with a tall heel (not platform)

...a taller cuban heel boot (say 4" minimum) would be ideal

Doc Martens do a nice variety of heeled footwear up to UK9. https://store.drmartens.co.uk/c-177-heeled.aspx I have a pair of these https://store.drmartens.co.uk/p-6053-dr-martens-... in black. The heel in UK9 is actually 4". They are very comfortable. The same heel/sole design is used on many DM products such as this: https://store.drmartens.co.uk/p-3409-dee.aspx
If you want "normal" women's footwear (as against stripper shoes and suchlike) above size UK9 your options are more limited. Evans have a selection at the conervative end of styling and apparently they tend to run large. http://www.bigshoeboutique.co.uk/ have a fairly wide range. Sizing is variable

Thanks for all the great info SnowLeopard! How does sizing work with womens shoes if you are a man? I take UK9 or 9.5 - would that just be the same with women's?

At one level, sizing doesn't work, there are wide variations and the only way to be sure is to try it on For UK and EU sizes mens and womens sizes are meant to be the same. This is not true for US sizes. Approximately EU43 = UK9 = US male 10 = US female 11.5 You will often see UK9 equated to EU42 - be wary of these as they will usually run small. Also womens shoes are usually narrower than mens. I'm UK9/EU43, possibly on the small side of that as I take UK8/EU42 in some mens styles. For what are usually called womens shoes most of what's sold as UK9 fits me, the main exception being Aldo which is ridiculously small. As I said before, Next often run large so you'll be fine with their EU43. For the DM stuff my UK9 clogs are a nice fit. Haven't tried the boots where there may be a bit less latitude. Fortuantely they do freepost returns so there's no risk ordering online.
