I have some smallish heart-shaped silicone moulds that look a little like this: http://www.siliconemoulds.com/cell-another-load-... and i was wondering what i could make in them and also if anyone knew how to line them, or if this wouldn't be needed?
Thanks

Cheese scones, red velvet cakes or alice inspired jam tarts nom nom nom. You shouldn't need to line silicone it should peel off. However that is a should, I've found the 1 cal cooking spray stuff works well with moulds. popi xxx Edited 8 Feb 12, 8:14 PM by popi |

Crustless savoury quiches - yummy Pan fry sausage meat, put in the bottom of the moulds, then add a mixture of egg + cream/water or milk to cover, then sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese - 15-20 min in oven at 180C fan overn Yummy!
And you can swap the sausage meat for any combination of sauteed mushrooms, fried onions, bacon, blue cheese, flaked salmon ... your imagination is the limit There's a somebody I'm longing to see, I hope that he turns out to be, someone to watch over me |

That's the kind of thing I make my truffles in, just line them with milk chocolate, stick in the fridge to set, make some ganache and while still liquid, pour it in, leaving a bit of space at the top to seal them off with more milk chocolate once set. With them being silicone and flexible I don't think you need to line them as such. But I've only used my moulds for chocolate so not sure what effect baking would have. I've got some silicone cake moulds I'm going to have to use to find out what happens now. ETA: Oh and watch out when washing silicone in a dishwasher, I find that the tablets tend to leave a white dusty coating on them (possibly salt or something) so I usually wash them without using a tablet. Oh I use the Finish stuff, Quantum and Powerball. Not sure about any other products. EATA: I've just got some moulds from them and the card that came with it says it's best to grease and flour if making cakes. Can you tell I'm bored and have nothing better to do with my life?
