Update.. Let me first thank everyone for their kind words, hugs, offers of assistance (including hands-on boobage checks) and recounting of personal experiences to calm me down, both here and in private memos. I really am touched and a bit overwhelmed and emotional by your support. I guess it just goes to confirm that even if some blogs can be a bit negative at times or some individuals can drive us to distraction, there are a heck of a lot of kind and caring people on IC, so thank you. Spent time today being prodded, re-mammogramed, ultrasounded, prodded some more and compared to prior results. And the news is really good - a small cyst which the radiologist is not worried about, and lots of naughty dense boobage cells and fatty cells which make the mammograms look suspicious, but which aren't a cause for worry. I am also duly instructed to repeat this "fun" annually, as the radiologist thinks I will constantly get 'scary results' but that I shouldn't get overly worried about them until further tests are done (easy for him to say!) Thank you lovely IC people for your words of encouragement and comfort and smiles and hugs and reassurance, it really is and has been appreciated xxx |
Ugh...
A year ago, I had a mammogram paid by my employer as part of a 2 yearly medical check-up.
There was a lump, I got referred to the Royal Marsden, they checked it out, and it turned out it was a false alarm, but they recommended that I do annual mammograms.
Used a Groupon voucher (thank you Groupon) to get a reasonably priced mammogram recently, seeing as I thought it would be prudent to proactively do it annually just as the Royal Marsden recommended.
Just spoken with my GP who got the results. They want me to go in for further tests....
I feel a bit sick and queasy. Praying I can be lucky a second time round. Ugh..

Hugs to you! Remember that you're doing what the doctor recommended, and that you were completely fine just a year ago. Nothing can go so horribly wrong in a breast in a year that can't be treated, if there's anything to treat at all. You're doing what you're supposed to do, and fingers crossed it's nothing. And if it's not nothing, a yearly mammogram is exactly what you should have done, and the mammogram will have done its job. Keep me posted, and sending good boobie vibes your way. Well, if there is such a thing as good boobie vibes. Hey, I just made 'em up, so there IS such a thing as good boobie vibes... Anyway, more hugs to you. Primula is NOT cheese. Fuck, it's not even FOOD. |

And @american_girl - that is exactly what the logical part of my brain is trying to repeat (when it isn't drowned out by the emotional part of my brain going arggggggggg!) - thanks for the scientific perspective sweetie There's a somebody I'm longing to see, I hope that he turns out to be, someone to watch over me |

***hugs*** Just remember, they always make it sound worse than it is. That seems to be a law in medical practice. It was probably a blip on the screen, but they do need to check it out.
My point is - don't worry until you have something to worry about. Here are some more hugs anyway, though. (((((you)))))) edited to take out personal info @Play_Space - Next party is Friday, March 2, 2012 and the first Friday of every month! Edited 8 Feb 12, 9:15 PM by Ama_Sidero |

Best wishes. Hope you can be calm until you get results too; do if you can try not to let anxieties take over completely ... "Wisdom begins in wonder” (Socrates) |
