Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If a word doesn't exist for what you want, make one up and add the meaning to it. If you've done a good job it will take off.

Can you tell I'm bored and have nothing better to do with my life?
Well nothing more important to do.
Well nothing I can be bothered doing to do.
And you get to suffer my writings because of it.

Some members like to refer to their 'proclivities'. I once got into trouble for asking what that meant, but I think this thread has told me the answer.

Now you mention it I'm not keen on the word "lifestyle", I just think it sounds a bit clunky. I like "scene" better, but I love "of the same church"-it sounds really tame and sort of ironic to Me at least because it's not about acting tame at all which you wouldn't know unless you were a part of it.

Sadder still to watch it die than never to have have known it.

I have a BDSM lifestyle. I enjoy being part of the scene. Sometimes I have a scene with a submissive. Sometimes a session, but that normally encompasses the whole afternoon/evening, and involves as many scenes as we go through.

Everyone knows what I am refering to when said in context. Can't see any need to change really, until something better comes along.

I like to say 'our dark world', and refer to fellow BDSM practitioners (now, here's a word!) as 'our kind', as well as refer to dominant sadists like myself as 'vampires'. Those are a bit more romantic than those words you try to avoid; understandably, I might add.

Oooohhh, like!

When I want your opinion, I'll thrash it out of you.
Can you taste the grit between your teeth....

I don't like the word "lifestyle" used to describe us.

I am also sick of seeing the word "scene".

I have a dilemma. I don't know any other succinct words to use in their stead.

Any ideas?

What do you use?

^S

Why not just get on with it and stop worrying about descriptions?

You're missing the point or being intentionally antagonistic, I don't know which. But in answer - I can't just "get on with it" because it's at times I am writing I need the different word and I don't play on line. Whilst I am indeed "getting on with it", there is no need for those words.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
