So what's wrong with simple asphyxiation? The only danger then is if the domme or dom doesn't let the air in on time.

When you pick up the first traces of the chemical odour and your whole body goes "oh God, oh God, oh God, here it comes, here it comes, fuck, fuck, aaaaarrrrggggghhhhh" because you know what's coming next. That's extra on top of simple asphyxiation.

Not that there's anything wrong with asphyxiation, mind: I've long wondered how it differs from chemical-induced unconsciousness.

Why do some people insist on smothering their chips in ketchup?

It's all done to preference.

If you haven't already found it, can I suggest http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed as another good source of information.
