At the next level down (District Judges) there are a lot more women. Haven't got figures to hand, but there's probably about three times as many District Judges as Circuit Judges.

Too many cartoons! Only criminal judges wear that gear (nearly) every day and most judges aren't in the criminal courts. The long wigs are only for very rare ceremonial occasions. Judges who wear wigs and gowns wear very short wigs in court, shorter than the wigs barristers wear. At the very top level (the Supreme Court, formerly the Judicial Committee of the House of Lords) they slouch in crumpled suits. Judges in the civil courts may sit in courts which have done away with wigs and gowns, may sit in chambers where that stuff is never worn, and don't spend all their time sitting in court anyway, but ploughing through piles of papers on their tod. What they wear when they're doing that I couldn't possibly say.

Have just finishes reading all of the postings regarding this topic. I'm probably missing the point big time, but why the 'interest' in whether anyone has topped/dommed a Judge? No matter what line of 'work' a person undertakes, the fact of the matter is we are all human and are therefore subject to the same potential likes, dislikes, kinks etc. as other humans. Why should it be 'acceptable' for those in one section of society to be topped, but 'less acceptable' for those who appear to be in a position of authority/power? It seems to me that if we consume ourselves with asking such questions like "Has anyone thrashed a judge (or MP, or doctor or vicar, or...)" no matter how light-hearted the intention, then we are in danger of contributing to and perpetuating the cliche mentioned by the op.

I know of one judge who was stopped after an evening at a party at a central London venue many years ago. when asked by the BiB what's in the bag sir, he replied, mumbling, oh, just a bit of rubber y'know. Have a good evening m'lud said the copper! I don't think anyone's name should have been mentioned on here as part of speculation as to her possible profession. I'm sure class act may not be amused. There are loads of lawyers on here, so as that's the pool from which Judges are drawn I'd imagine there'd be a fair few. They'd have to be bloody careful though, even more so than as lawyers. I used to have a few fantasies about one of our local Circuit Judges taking me into his chambers and giving me a good seeing to. This was before I discovered the joys of bdsm, but even then it always included being bent over his desk and a bit of light spanking.

While I would doubt the claim that she traveled the world to do it, it's worth noting that Judges, Lawyers and Journalists have the highest incidence of Cocaine use among professionals. I have a friend who used to work for a local paper and drug tests were mandatory, as I think they are for bankers and investment brokers.
People in high stress jobs play very hard and I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the idea of a dom being in high demand among that crowd. But as House said and you quoted, 'People lie,' it sounds glamorous than the reality most likely is and if such a thing as that does go on, it must be very tiring.
The basic point of the article is also true though and I never thought I'd agree with someone like Max Mosley (although I suppose I shouldn't judge him for who his parents were) What goes on behind closed doors between consenting adults is entirely their own business. People have the right to disagree, but no one has the right to tell me that what I'm doing is wrong.
I'm homosexual and forty or fifty years ago, I would have been jailed for what I do now behind closed doors with consenting adults and so would whoever I was with.
Food for thought. | |

Good article. Pity most of the comments miss the point, that bdsm is between adults, and consenting adults at that. How can you compare whipping my boyfriend to abusing kids.
