Okay, so let's look at this calmly... Both have similar salary and holidays, but what about other benefits? any health plan? any pension plan? any other perks? are you able to work from home if you need to (and if so, do both offer you that possibility?)? What about working conditions - do they have comparable amount of travel (and is travel a plus or a minus for you?)? what about the location of the offices? and the offices themselves? what about your future boss? have you met any of your future colleagues? (if you haven't already, can you ask to see the offices and speak to some potential future colleagues?) what about career progression, are they similar or does one of them have better long term prospects beyond the job you would be hired for? what about training, for this job and any future job, does one of them have a better training program? All of that should make the list of pros and cons more detailed for each and give you more of a feel. Now, sit down and close your eyes. Imagine yourself with the "Microsoft firm", imagine yourself with your future boss & colleagues working there. How does it feel? Now imagine yourself with the "Apple firm", imagine yourself with your future boss & colleagues working there. How does that feel? Hopefully after doing all that, you will have a stronger pull towards one of them. And remember what you said - you would have jumped for either opportunity, so you know they are both great, you just have the luxury (and challenge) of having to choose between them
Good luck There's a somebody I'm longing to see, I hope that he turns out to be, someone to watch over me

At a time of high unemployment and turmoil, I;d tend to go for whichever one seems the most secure. Risk taking is more appropriate when there are plenty of jobs to fall back on if the risk doesn't workout. Best of luck with whichever you choose. "Wisdom begins in wonder” (Socrates)
