I am probably the least up-to-date person on the planet and have no knowledge of "youth culture" or "emerging trends". Yesterday I was on a train, and in the group of 4 facing seats just ahead of me were four attractive young women. From their conversation (which everyone in the carriage could hear) I gathered that they had been for a weekend away together; that they were on their way home; that they all had boyfriends; and that they all enjoyed texting and showing each other pictures on their smartphones. The only slightly odd aspect was that the two girls facing me, when not busy texting, giggling, chattering, or digging in their handbags for various items, spent quite a bit of time engaged in kissing one another, mouth on mouth. Their friends seemed to see absolutely nothing unusual in this. Apart from that, I would have said that both the girls who were kissing appeared to be "straight" although I am perfectly aware that what I observed was just a tiny snapshot of their lives; I cannot discount the fact that one or both of the girls were bisexual or bi-curious, if those are appropriate terms. Have i missed something ? Eldon Tyrell: "The light that burns twice as bright burns for half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly, Roy."

It's definitely something the youth of today do all the time. Mainly to get male attention.

Evidently they succeeded. I definitely think you missed a trick on this one. I personally would Have ensured I was travelling with a large coat ideal for discretely placing over my lap...

I like kissing girls even though I wouldn't really call myself bi.

I kiss lots of girls because I fancy them not because I want male attention

No its not, its a girl thing and has been a girl thing since I started to go to pubs when I was (cough) 16 (cough) and I used to snog my straight friends in a completely none sexual way. I agree with the assessment that girls have lovely lips, and there is the element of attention grabbing, and there is also the closeness of relationships that some girls have.

Yes, but but more because I simply found their behavior "odd" rather than overtly sexual. I would not want it to be thought that I am criticising them or being judgemental. They were doing no harm and I don't think anyone was offended. On the station platform before departure there were several couples (M-F) engaged in kissing and hugging and no-one was at all bothered, and why should they be ? I am just a bit intrigued, that's all. I'm sure the "Mainly to get male attention" thing is entirely correct.
That sounds very much like what I saw. Eldon Tyrell: "The light that burns twice as bright burns for half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly, Roy." Edited 30 Jan 12, 12:16 PM by Ironsmith
