It is a tricky situation. I'm not sure what to suggest. Other than this:

How about I come around for an evening and leaf through clothes with you for a bit of a catch up and giggle? Anything I like that no longer fits you ('cause I am a 16/18) that you're willing to part with, I will take and I will give you a bit of cash too if you want? I'm also trying to lose weight at the moment though so I don't think I will take much in case it then no longer fits me. I might even steal some smaller clothes if that works for you too.

Other than that, I would suggest you give things to charity shops but if there is anything more valuable/really pretty, you can try selling it on eBay however I don't think you would make much from eBay or car boots unfortunately :-(

I wish you luck with this though :-)

Is there a clothing exchange set up in your locality? It might offer a solution of both passing on some of the clothes that no longer fit you and picking up some that do.

Solves two problems at the same time.

Is it appropriate to say well done on the weight loss? I never know these days.

I'm stuck upon the horns of a dilemma and I'm really at a loss as to how to deal with it. All sensible advice gratefully received.

The situation, as simply as I can put it, is this:

  • In the time running up to April 2011 I was a very unhappy little horder who was a size 22/24
  • Since then life has changed beyond all recognition, as have I, at a current size 12/14
  • I'm nowhere near finished with my general overhaul, so a final size 10/12 seems realistic
  • I now have a wardrobe that spans seven sizes and I can never find anything to wear
  • I'm moving house so I need to rationalise all my belongings

Simple enough thus far, get rid of stuff.

But I know that as good as life may be of late, there is always the risk that things may go utterly pear shaped again one day. When things go bad, I go for the fridge, so it would seem to make sense to keep some larger clothes, just in case. But how large ? How many ?

And how do I get rid of the clothes I decide to dispense with ? As I said, I'm moving house so money is tight AND I hardly have anything at all in sizes that actually fit. I could do with making some cash on them to invest in a new wardrobe. Do I ebay ? Car boot sale (despite my glaring lack of car or boot) ? Say sod it and give them to charity in the interest of speed ?

I'm sitting on the bed looking at my bursting wardrobes in despair because I know I need to deal with them but really don't know quite how. Please help me girls….

you are heading for a new house and given your loseing wieght your heading for a new you !!

keeping clothes that do not fit unless they have senimental value mean's,, as you state you might head for the fridge,

Now why bring your old you, to your new house,, when you know you have done so damn well.

yit is stressfull you will have a great deal to do that is important to setting thing's to how you like them,,

heading for the fridge is Not one of those important thing's so you can leave that thinking behind,

as your move is april,,

gather set's of like clothes with one good lable in each bunch,

put em on ebay nice neat picture of clothes make the effort a good pic will help raise the value,,

put link's on here via the for sale section,

and extra £50.00-£100.00 is money you did not have,,

thing's can go pear shaped,, so what you know the food will make you more misrable,,

the answer is not food is it ,, you know that i know that ,, and every-one else know's that,,

so you ensure your 'pear-shaped' has a positive plan 'A' rather than a crap one,,and move with that 'if' thing's get that difficult,

so get yer camra sorted a background nice neat pic's a good lable in each bundle, low start price,,

( because you would throw the clothes anyway as an end game anyway ) good desciption of each bundle,,

Please excuse crap spelling cause i,m rubbish
