Sounds like it was a pain in this case. Hope you got paid for the wated journeys. (Some deliveries are futile of course. Does anyone remember a short-lived sit com which was predicated on the notion of two truck drivers; one who regularlydelivered dog food from Hull to Swansea, the other delivering dog food from Swansea to Hull, and both having affairs with the other's wife unbeknown to each other?) Health and Safety often gets mocked until an accident happens, and then the blame game starts. In some industries (e.g. nuclear, coal mining, aviation) it's absolutely critical. In many areas, a greater awareness of risk can save many lives, accidents, injuries or health consequences; e.g. legislation about office seating makes a huge reduction in back problems in later life. H&S is easy to mock, and certain extreme cases deserve mockery, but it would be disastrous to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
