Well, my Sunday was a blast! My mother, who is 82 years of age, decided to stop breathing and was found crumpled on her bed. As my dad was sent to call 999, I set about resuscitating her. Giving mouth-to-mouth to an 82 year old is about as far removed from pleasant as humanly possible!
The paramedics were amazing and when they arrived she'd come round sufficiently enough to slur a few words and continued to improve over the next couple of hours while they did their magic to her. As one snapped on his gloves, she announced quite matter of factly, "Are you about to give me an internal, young man?" and farting loudly, to which he replied, "This is the NHS, not BUPA, no internal for you today!"
Not only did she traumatise me last night, she traumatised those poor young men who said, as they were leaving after she refused to be taken to hospital, that they'd remember her for a very long time and were glad their shift was now over as they would be going home to recover!
I have to live with her. They had a very lucky escape!

Thank you sweetie, it's happened before when her BP has dipped too low and hers was down to 78 last night, but it's now a steady 98, still on the low side but given her age she's doing okay for now. She's never stopped breathing before though, doc has been, checked her out, as she's refused to go to the hospital for tests he's limited insofar as what he can do. As she hasn't been looking after her diet well, I've now taken this over as well and will regular her intake - she's not liking me very much at the moment lol The tooth fairy teaches kids to sell body parts for money ~ David Richerby | |

Thank you, LJ x She is a tough old bird, she's been running around like a geriatric delinquent today, determined to prove she's not ready yet for the crematorium. I had to separate her and my stepfather after she wanted to plant him in the garden for daring to tell her to go sit down and put her feet up! LOL! Here's to continued friendship, good health and the occasional and quite memorable knee in the apricots!
