Hi, a simple post really but a subject i find fascinating as i expect most of ou will a different view on this - When browsing Fetish and BDSM images online what do you look for? Is it merely an image that will arouse you or do you tend to look beyond this towards the creativity of the shot? What are your criteria if you like?

Different criteria for different purposes. When looking for models for instance I generally look at the 'worst' and 'average' photos first and do similar things with dating photos because anyone can do wonderful things with Photoshop these days and you may not even recognise the person from retouched photos. The other thing is the date the photos were taken because everyone ages.
As to photos that appeal to me sexually I generally prefer photos of dommes and like good eye contact with the viewer. Whist many women have a lovely shape I can enjoy such photos on an aesthetic basis but feel no sexual arousal because sexually I am more the 'prey' than the 'predator'
More recently I have found arousing photos of dommes that are taken close in and looking up at the woman from a low angle. Some are technically bad but visually arousing Women in leather photos, tastefully done, like some of Mistress Rouge's I find stimulating. My favourite are women controlling fire but I have seen very few of those.

A picture that tells a story.

I have to concur, a story tells so much more than just a shot. I always think that a "holiday snap" is such a waste or data-space (used to be film and paper when I studied photography) personally, I love B/W. I think there is so much more feeling and passion in such an image, colour seems to overload the scenes. I was told once that the brain stores images in B/W and then adds the colour when recalling the image. That makes sense but also explains why B/W seems to speak to us (well me) more strongly. I prefer the arty type of photo, doesn't have to be kinky and the model doesn't have to fit any stereotype. Just has to be good quality and well executed. Having said that, I'm no expert so my idea of a good photo might be a bit off the mark!

Something that captures a "real moment" in time Too much is posed and photoshopped these days that all you see is a stock of pictures that show almost plastic people in rigid poses. I like seeing that 1 in a million picture that has caught a single moment of passion, fear, pain, love, heartbreak, joy, etc in all its raw glory "You and you alone make me feel that I am alive. Other men it is said have seen angels, but I have seen thee and thou art enough." ~ George Moore

It occurs to me that I only look at the Domme and never the sub. If I had to ID from memory I reckon I would photofit the Domme no problem but not have a clue what the sub looked like even if his face were not masked. They are just props for the main actors to use. What is your view?

1. If they can risk putting up a photograph they are porobably not someone with enough general professional standing that I would want to be owned by them.... mostly, not always but its a good sign. If they are unemployed with nothing to lose they are more likely to put up a photo than if they're in the cabinet. 2. If they send one then it should be close up enough that I can see the face - how the features look is crucial for me to attraction and I need to see if they are clinically obese or quite fit but I don't want anything naked or the penis or even the naked chest really. 3. I would love to see a tasteful background showing they have a suitable house etc. I hate them draped over cars like some kind of nouveau riche poser. I love good suits but shiny awful suits are doing to turn me off. If they have no photos at all or hardly any you wonder if they don't need any for work publicity etc and if not what sort of job do they have that they aren't needing those and secondly can't they work a digital camera - is their IQ so low that they cannot work out how to take and upload photos? (NB you can google picture search and find people now so do be careful of photos)

I guess I have two sides with this - Firstly I like to see a pretty woman tied up and gagged in all kinds of ways, the expression on her face whilst she's gagged be it playful or feigned fear in a theatrical scenario. Secondly I like well lit erotically artistic pictures where the focus is on the shapes formed by the body and the rope - usually with just the one light source. Those are the pictures where it's not necessary to see the face as I'm more interested in the form and the lighting, shadows, highlights and the technical aspect. |
