So, lucky old me is getting sent to NY for 6 months soon with work. However a quick Google seems to suggest that the NY fetish scene is barely alive any more and all super private and all the sites seem awfully dated. Knowing that this place is the font of all kinky knowledge I was hoping people may have suggestions on places to go or ideally a US version of IC (which isn't ruddy CollarMe). Thanks all

Fetlife lists 53952 kinksters, 287 groups, and 57 events. Will that do for a start? Owner of The Croppery Dungeon and Breakfast. Organises The St Leonards munch.

Fetlife annoys me. But I guess it's a good start.

Here's a blog post @Tanos did about our trip to New York: http://www.tanos.org.uk/blog/312677/ it includes info on shops and a TES meeting we went to. There were flyers at the shops for parties and events and the people at the TES event were friendly and knew about various play events. x Now where were we? Ah, yes - abject humiliation!

Aren't you rather young to be looking after yourself in the big ole city ;o) I was in NYC awhile. You are right there isn't much in terms of the D/s scene for public consumption. Americans are very closed doors about their true Domliness, unless you are in the Deep South, ten a bit of wife spanking seems to be the norm, considering some of the threats made upon my derrière when visiting...I guess I just inspire the Natural Top! The non OTT tend to play in bespoke settings for which you may have the cash but possibly not the access, or unless you are older looking than your years and inordinately attractive, the looks. But there must be something out there, so many good story writers live thereabouts. I agree with you re. , by the way, but a lot of people love it. I guess it's more for a general hook- up. If you are looking for good 'stuff to do' from a less touristy, more local point of view, feel free to memo. I'm not a New Yorker, but it's a city I love. Sugar and spice and all things nice are what I 'could' be made of... Edited 21 Jan 12, 1:25 PM by naughtyskibunny

Thanks for the blog post, good read.
And I may take you up on that offer naughtyskibunny. Good to get some non-tourist advice. I am however darn attractive (and modest too) so I should get into the parties

Hmmm, the really attractive ones usually doubt their own appeal, or are at least a little self-derogatory... uote=TheBanker] Thanks for the blog post, good read.

Go to Purple Passion when you get there and speak to the staff. They are all 'scene' and über friendly. Spanking clubs are a big thing there and from what I could gather on my last trip they are on every weekend. Edited 22 Jan 12, 3:55 PM by latexlovers

It was this thread that prompted me to set up the new group @Globetrotters. I'd be really greateful if someone were to start a thread on New York on there, especially anyone with news/info on play events. x Now where were we? Ah, yes - abject humiliation! |
