The only similarities appear to be that it was a passenger ship that hit something then sank.
The captain of the Titanic didn't hit something that was on the charts and he certainly didn't desert the sinking ship like the cowardly rat in the Med did.

thank you for the outlet ... what can i say ... some of the things are correct ..yes they were both passinger ships ... no both didnt sink .... concordia was in a very warm place ... titanic was not. i have been on very large ships most of my adult life and yes ships have allsorts of radar... side scanners .. depth counters with repeaters... they also have volume controls .. off switches and crew that dont understand the language ...yes realy!!! plus go to any harbour and look at any newish fishing boat... they have more electronics than most large ships and its closer to hand i know of an oil tanker that hit rocks and when questioned the crew said they thought the radar was not working properly and the rocks they could see on radar was clouds .... chaos mayhem and desaster......my work here is done

OK, instead of 'sank' how about 'failed to stay afloat' ? ETA Actually I think it has sunk because they are worried about it slipping into deeper water. @MediFet Medical Play group Edited 18 Jan 12, 1:02 PM by SteveDuk

sorry im not saying there was anything wrong with the radar .. this was driver error ..i used it as a example to prove that just because they have the kit does not mean they know how to use it ...

I read somewhere that there is a tradition of sailing close to this island to do a "salute" with the ship fully lit.. I think it is called "cowboying" in any other language and profession! "I can and I will.... I just choose not to..... Yet!"

Good to see the Captain upheld the time honoured tradition of "women and children first" and "a Captain always stays with his ship" !! Perhaps he was ex-military, used to driving Italian tanks with one gear - "reverse" while playing "No more heroes anymore"

In defence of the Captain, he said no rocks were shown in the area on his coastal navigation charts. It was suggested on the TV news that there has been seismic activity in the area, making navigation charts unreliable. Mi lema: es mejor morir de pie que vivir siempre arrodillado. |
