Thought this was a really good blog. Agree that it's far better to get some motivation and deal with it than hit out at the people who are trying to help. Having said that, some people just have no fucking sensitivity. *Gets himself a comfy chair, some low-fat popcorn, and waits for Class Act to turn up* I wouldn't say I'm arrogant, but Superman has pictures of me on his pyjamas.

Brilliant advice. I do hope some of the men will read it and act too! XX Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass but learning to dance in the rain.

Definitely agree with this! After years of yoyo dieting I've finally realised that I need a more intelligent relationship with food instead of just blasting calories at the gym so I can have a take away, wine and ice cream. I'm learning to cook properly for a start! Something that really helped me was signing up for a specific goal like a 5k or 10k so that workouts have a long term purpose and I get a sense of achievement. Livestrong.com is the site I use for calorie and exercise tracking and it's not bad.

Fantastic blog. Well said. My other add to that would be gastric banding. I seriously advise anyone against it. I do not know one person who has had it and not suffered terribly for years after.. Its not a quick fix either IMO Diet has to be controlled and diet clubs are the best place to get the support you need.
Support bacteria. They're the only culture some people have.

Totally agree T. Gastric band and bypass is not the way to go about it. Oh and it works for a while but the weight comes back on as I have a friend who had this and she has gained more over the last 5 yrs. It's like starving yourself cos you can't eat hardly anything I once asked someone why take the easy way out and she said she had back ache swo I said bloody diet then. I am what I am and what I am needs no excuses

Totally agree, it's eat less/move more. I will continue to believe this until I've met someone and seen exactly why that doesn't apply to them. There's always one, and if I'm in the vicinity, it's probably me.

You are right for most people, but there are some people, and this may well be a case, where they are beyond weight watchers/slimming world. There are some people whose relationship with food isn't about eating, it is about control, the food controls them. There are twenty weblogs mentioning Reductil, fourteen of them by one person and another by someone mentioning fourteen's weblog. When you look at the other weblogs fourteen has written a high proportion of them mention diet and food. People with a normal relationship to food don't weblog that way. As someone else mentioned Overeaters Anonymous is probably the best way for fourteen to go next as everything else tried hasn't worked. I have the perfect accent for conflict resolution, shame about the personality.

heya, that'll be me then *waves* (i've not checked whether it's me but I'm sure it is) What can I say, desperate times call for desperate measures.
(not that i'm disagreeing with the OP becausefor what it's worth I find her blog inspiring It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice Edited 13 Jan 12, 2:49 PM by totallycoverme

Very well put, I was 17 stone 18 months ago, and unable to do very much. Someone close to me gave me a short, sharp shock and I decided to do something about it. To cut a long story short I am now 12st.6lbs and feel so much better. I can now buy clothes from regular high street shops and its wonderful. Sure, I overdid it a bit at Xmas, but am now eating sensibly again. It has been really hard work but well worth it. I am so much more active as well. I aim to lose at least another stone. In most cases we are responsible for our weight. Its partly true that nothing tastes better than thinness - except maybe a great lemon merrangue pie lol!!! Back to the salads |
