I've found something that claims to be a replacement for reductil:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Atom-Reductol-SX-15mg-...
Has anyone tried these? If they do what they say then i'll be choofed. I'm looking to hear from people who have though because currently, I can't afford to take the gamble if they're a load of poop.
So yeah, opinions/advice needed please.
(I started my diet on Tuesday at exactly 15stone but it will blow my mind if I find a strong tablet to help me with this. I'm currently using up the rest of my Dietrim tablets from my last weight loss phase and they work pretty well but if I could find something that was as close to my beloved reductil as possible then that would be mega awesome!)
Over to you

I've not tried them myself, but I was just googling, and I have a bit of a chem background... the original reductil seems to have been withdrawn, as too many people had issues with it, some quite severe it seems. the original looked to be quite similar to speed, which a lot of diet pills have either had in, or a relative of such. this 'new' one is proprietary, so you cant see the exact formula, and although sibutrazine sounds like a 'proper' chemical name, its a made up one. I am by no means sure, but my guess would be is that its a slightly altered formula, an effective re-badging to get around the order to withdraw this product previously. I'd stress, this is an educated guess, not fact. Considering the quite long list of conditions that were recommended if people had......not to take the original, and the fact that it was withdrawn.....I'd view this with a bit of suspicion at least... (this is the wiki for the active drug in reductil) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sibutramine Not saying a definite no......but a "proceed with caution" perhaps Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha said "with our thoughts, we make the world"......well I bet he never had to build a flippin' shed!

If you're determined to take the drugs route just find someone who can give you a high grade supply of amphetamines, cheaper and less problematic than the legal ones. Disclaimer. I learned this years ago and no longer indulge. It was the quickest I ever lost weight in my life. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jezzebelle/

I would reccommend going to your GP and say you wish to lose weight and could they offer any help . That way if they do offer Orlistat ( slimming tablets ) it will only cost you £7.40 and you will be monitored . Ms C

Tablets aren't the answer. Try drinking Green tea, Aloe Vera tablets help too. They are not a food supplement but I know they have helped a few of my friends. Please try the doctor who can help massively I am what I am and what I am needs no excuses

I had a friend who used to go to Overeaters Anonymous and she said it really helped. Twelve step programmes help for other addictions and it might help deal with the root cause of over eating. I'm the one your mother warned you about

From your own blog two years ago about redactil.
You weighed less then whilst taking Reductil but have put it back on again. Your relationship with food is the issue, not a reliance on pills, learning about nutrition and how to cook would help too - fall in love with food for the right reasons, not as an obsession. I really hope you get the help you need. Edited 13 Jan 12, 12:38 PM by Caracal

I went to the doctor tother day. He said the best he can give me is oristat but he reckons it probably won't help me regarding eating a balanced diet (a balanced diet still has fat in it which will still make me a slave to the toilet if i take orlistat). My BMI is 32.something and it needs to be 35 to qualify for getting a gym pass so the gym probably isn't an option. I've got an appointment to see a nurse to see what they can do. Currently, I'm on a reduced calorie diet of my own doing (1500cals a day or thereabouts) whilst taking Dietrim tablets. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice

Yeah, I see what you mean. When I got prescribed reductil I was 15st and I got down to 12st something (I've kept my proifle on here to say that as it reminds me that it is possible for me to weigh that much/little!) I'm confused coz people keep talking about changing my relationship with food an being healthy for life but all can see is a lifetime of yoyo dieting because i've never known anything different. Like if I eat "healthy" I don't lose a serious ammount of weight and if i do eat in a way that makes me lose weight, it always comes back. I'm trying to lose weight at the moment but when people say "i'm loosing weight for the last time" i can't imagine being able to say that for myself. confused dot com It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice |
