Policies may have changed but when I requested a Hep B course of three shots in the late 1990s at my local clinic I was told that they were given to gay men only.

Nope you should be able to get Hep B immunisation at your local GU clinic. Did you wander into a gay clinic by mistake? I think the last time I went for one was around 2002 and it was free for me.
I had a bisexual male partner back then but that's another story. They wouldn't just give it to gay men because that would be discriminatory and suggest that no man lies about his sexuality to his female partner, or indeed that no one lies about their promiscuity. Gay man are not the only at risk group for this disease.
The NHS definition is - people who change sexual partners frequently (including men who have sex with men, and male and female sex workers).

Question: why would anyone use a condom for cock-sucking?

Protection against most STDs but also protection against hepatitis and HIV. All these can be passed via body fluids including semen. Also some people do not like the taste or feel of semen in their mouth, it reminds them of phlegm.

Sex toys such as vibrators, dildoes and butt plugs should also be condomed if they are going to be used on more than one partner as they can be used to transmit infection. Remember that butt plugs can cause little tears in the body and there could be traces of blood on the butt plug. Even your own blood - if old and decayed - can harbour infection and could be harmful if re-inserted at a later date. A disposable condom prevents that risk.
While HIV dies soon after leaving the body, some forms of hepatitis can remain active for up to six months and have been reported to be resistant to some common cleaning agents.
A drugs report in Time Out a decade ago suggested one form of hepatitis can still remain live on second-hand needles which have been boiled in neat bleach.
The final reason to recommend condoms on sex toys, such as vibrators inserted into the vagina, is that dusty drawers or bedside tables can harbour yeasts which can caused thrush-type infections. I suggest vibrators are put into a clean plastic sandwich bag after use and the bag is changed regularly.

I'd never thought about this (sheltered life) but how horrid it sounds. I'd rather not bother, I think, than put a cock in my mouth with a condom on it.
I like the feel and the smell of the beloved one's cock, as well as the taste of his stuff. I wouldn't like to be deprived of that, tbh. |

Interesting. The last I heard a few years ago was that Terence Higgins Trust had raised the risk level on casual unprotected oral from low level to medium level and were counselling against it. Flogher - I cane, I whip, I cuddle

I understand, from a THT sexual health outreach worker, is that the problem is .... people lie. So basically no one knows with any conviction. Or as per the link above "This remains the only study available that provides a probability for oral transmission, and further study is required to corroborate these estimates." and (I would guess) that this assumes honesty in respondents.
And all men kill the thing they love, By all let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look, Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss, The brave man with a sword!

Slightly off topic, but a friend told me recently that a form of Hepatitis has developed which is transmitted via sweat, which is a scary thought. |
