Where would you stay in London? (13)

Good people of IC - I'm after ideas and suggestions, please!

Big birthday coming up (well, in a couple of months) and I'd like to spend a couple of nights away from home as part of the weekend celebrations, in London still though to allow for other adventures and happenings.

Because I spend a lot of time in hotels, I'm not really that thrilled by them per se. So I'm ideally looking for somewhere odd / wacky / different. Likewise if you can think of somewhere with spectacular views, or just memorable (a castle?) - please let me know!

Thanking you kindly in advance for any ideas... :-)

How many people are you planning on being there?

Will it be a shared event for several friends or more intimate?

Oh, sorry. No, the hotel is just for me. The other adventures may include some kind of birthday bash, which will be elsewhere and is being sorted, but the staying in a hotel - and most likely, the adventures on the day itself - are likely to be solo affairs. :-)

There is a website which caters for the unusual Hotels and accommodation reservations. I can't recall what He said it was called so this is really just a bookmark post. Will ask Him later for you and ping it when I've the answer.

If what I have written above makes no sense then just ignore me, normal service will be resumed one day.

I can't recommend any of these, but each looks quite special.

Oh, thank you! And definitely bookmarked - though some of them are outside London they're pretty cool for another time! :-)

I use Alastair Sawday's quite a bit, and they've never let me down before..

It is art that makes life, makes interest, makes importance, for our consideration and application of these things, and I know of no substitute whatever for the force and beauty of its process.
