Today i'm saying goodbye to my youngest son before he flies out to california for 6 months. I'm expecting there to be tears ( I'll just tell him to man up! ) At least I should get a holiday out of it.

From someone who's son lives abroad, you will be amazed how quickly the 6 months will pass.

I'm always brave at the airport and cry all the way home.

There is always skype, it's a godsend

when wonderful son left for america i did very well right up till he walked through costoms ...then i just wanted to rush forward and drag him home ...i didnt mostly coz CJ put a hand on my shoulder.

i kept it together till he dissapeared then broke down on CJs shoulder.

now he is fantasticaly happy earning more money than he could in england .. found the one and married her and has a fantastic house ... now is an american citizan and i have a holiday home near seattle

smile tell him you love him and remind him to eat well ...lol

The thing is he's 24 and hasn't really lived at home since going to university though never more than a 4 hour drive away. So i shouldn't really make a fuss. But did he have to tell me he plans on hiring a motorbike out there? Its an excellent opportunity for him though.

Already got skype set up. And at least i know he'll be back as if has his phd to finish.
