Seeing the Group moderator feels the need to put her spin on it I will reply here.
http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/322715/
A couple of times the Group leader has objected and censored my posts containing forms of tard. Always alluding to standards of decent/ civil debate.
I dont like it but thems the rules, it was when a thread appeared titled Liberal Democunts which led me to question her consistancy in a thread I started which was hidden. Then a threat of a ban followed by a ban was received by Memo.
Thems the details, I wouldn't even bothered with a blog if I hadn't see the thread linked above. Dont know if its meant as an insinuation, cant really see the point of it but I'm of the veiw if everythings out in the open its hard to start rumours.
Oh I see the Liberal Democunts title has been edited, an hour ago. http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/321305/
If I was in the wrong why change it? If I am right why ban me? Apart from the obvious hypocricy I have nothing to add, it speaks for itself.

"Cunt" isn't a derogatory term for mentally disabled people, though, is it?

Am I? If someone sets and declares a standard of debate, regardless how low my standards are, its reasonable to expect everyone to be held to it isn't it? And reasonable to point out when this isn't the case. Yea Im a cantankerous stroppy sod at times true but if you set a certain standard you should set one you can stick to. Think thats fair meself.

Yes, it can be(Although tardy isn't) although thats irrelevant as the Group leader was and has set the bar at civil debate

It just can't be, Monster. Not on its own. "Liberal democunt" isn't a pejorative for mental illness. "Tard" is. I don't read ID religiously but I'm sure I've seen it pointed out to you that the objection to "tard" is NOT based on its lack of civility, but on it being a pejorative for disabled people.

I wonder if it's because you then went on to wind the moderator up by starting up more threads relating to this issue on both the 'website help' and the ID boards?

Yes but so what? i am not responseble for your particular sensitivities, I was not refering to Disabled people but Gaurdian Jurnos the first time and american rightwing religous fundis the second time. And as I said the Group leader alluded to standards of civil debate. Now I dont know if you think calling a group of people tatds is worse than calling people cants as one is as you said a derogatory term in certain contexts the other is a sexual expletive.

I thought the Liberal Democunts postings were beneath contempt, and didn't belong on a group entitled "Informed Debate". Moderating boards is a thankless ad difficult task; it's especially hard to be impartial and perceived as impartial by all; we all have our own biases and it's hard to be aware of them and hard to create a moderation policy which everyone will think of as fair. I think psychee is the only moderator on the group (though I know she's tried to persuade others in the past) and she describes herself as "infrequent" moderator. I for one think a truly informed debate would require much heavier moderation, but that would require a lot of volunteer effort. P.S. He's deleted "Democunts" from the OP title, but not from his two later posts. "Wisdom begins in wonder” (Socrates) Edited 4 Jan 12, 10:45 PM by wonderer |
