Be as much a 'meenie' as you like, that's the point. I don't want to discover I really like something I can't afford to continue
Also as I would be the 'drippee' not the 'dripper' it's easier to make sure it's suitable beforehand
I'm going to have a look at my household candles and see if they're paraffin. I usually have a good supply of candles but they're coloured for rituals and stuff. Will have to get a separate supply to play with. Why be difficult, when with little bit of effort you can be impossible?

I have also bought the coloured candles from Dungeonmaster1 and I recommend them too. They arrived quickly after I bought them. Hannah x

I've looked at the one's from Dungeonmaster1 on fetlife. I see they're quite a good size, but how quickly do they melt, ie: would one last a few sessions or be all used up at once. I do realise this depends on how long one plays with them for but an approximate idea would be good.
In the meantime we might experiment with some plain white ones and if I like it they can be a special treat
All information appreciated and as I said before, useful Why be difficult, when with little bit of effort you can be impossible?

This is one of the few areas where dearest is not necessarily best. By and large, candles with perfume and colouring (and thus more expensive) melt at higher temperatures, therefore are hotter when splashed on skin. A basic paraffin wax candle is less likely to be at inappropriate temperatures when melted. A lower heat when the wax becomes liquid is obviously safer. Having said that - use small drips from a greater height, before trying "puddles" of wax round the wick, or from a lower height, and it will be much easier to assess the points at which the temperature is TOO hot. A few drops from three feet, and then advancing from there, is better than a whole pool splashed from the top of a candle from six inches - at least as a starting point. Makes sense? Just to endorse what English has said above. Cheap white Prices household candles are fine. One thing to watch though is thin candles, wax dripping off the wick can be at a much higher temperature than the melting point of the wax and can burn or remove skin. This has happened to me. A big fat candle with a puddle of wax, on the other hand, will have the liquid wax in contact with solid wax and will be in thermal equilibrium with it, at its melting point, much safer. Even then damage can occur to sensitive regions in the anal-genital region, be careful. Zen S&M: The sound of one hand slapping.

Just played with them tonight. In the session we used 3 of their coloured candles and played for about an hour. Sadly they seem to get used up really quickly. The three are just stubs now, though we did cover all my back, front and legs. We thought that as they have a lower melting point than usual candles, and they don't cause as much pain, they'd be great for people wanting to try out wax play for the first time. They are also good for adding in some colour and for making pretty patterns as they're a lot easier to aim with. However if you do wax play regularly it's probably better to use other candles that last longer and are cheaper, you can add more pain using those and flick and dribble with the wax a lot better too. (Dungeonmaster1's candles are more difficult to drip and flick with, and the wax on the skin lands in a more blob like way.) Having said that though, Dungeonmaster1's candles are beautifully designed & beautifully made and are a joy to use. : ) x Edited 11 Jan 12, 11:34 PM by secretsmile_101

you want white (uncolooured) parafin wax candles ideally smaller ones like tealights, votive candle or the long slim ones. The hardner used in pillar candles burns at 80degrees C too hot for play. (unless you are more S&M) also the different colours burn at different temepratures ranging up to ten degree more than a plain white parrafin candle. another tip is if you for an hour to spare and are arty you could make your own! (it works out similar prices I spent about £20 on bits and make hundreds of cnadles and till loads more left) I bought dyes too to colour as much or little as i like but was able to avoid the hardner so I have varying temps of cnadles going from 50-70 degrees There is also sometihngcalled Soya wax which melts at 40'C and goes cream and oily and is used in massage cnadles.! its cheaper to buiy and make your own massage cnadles beucase they are so expensive to buy! You cna add things like coca butter/ shea butter essential oils for conditioning/aromatherpay purposes its simple and easy to make if you wanted more information then please message me and i can tell you how to but its do able in less than and hour! Massage cnadles are amazing and non inytimidating way into candle play and are very sensual I have made them as gifts for friends as the cheap and easy alternative to a couples xmas pressie! and best thign is they dont go off so you cna make them now for next xmas! :D
