Last night was the last time I organised an Ann & Roly party. It feels like I have now reached the end of a good book. A book that has taken nearly five years to read, brought me tremendous pleasure, taken my emotions on a roller-coaster ride and which turned out to have an ending nothing like I might have imagined at the start. It was a fabulous adventure involving some unforgettable characters and one that will always be with me.
I have always been the sort of person who wants to do everything to the best of my ability and as far as I was concerned, last night's party was the perfect denouement for all that has happened so far. The party was better than we ever thought imaginable. The venue was very full ( I've never seen more people in there ) and although all the equipment was continually being put to good use, it was never a problem finding stuff to play on.
Since J and I have been living together, we are able to play at home whenever we want. Therefore for the last year or so, we have not needed to play very much at the club. However last night, we did find a couple of opportunities to have some lovely play sessions, which brings me to the main reason for this blog.
I'm sure that you don't want any gory details, but suffice it to say that immediately after leaving a private room, while still in a somewhat befuddled state, I was ushered into the main room and presented with a tremendously generous voucher for Ikea ( the practical kinkster's best friend ). My apologies for the somewhat rambling and disjointed speech that I made, but I was truly surprised and was not expecting anything like that. I'm never one for seeking the limelight at the best of times and that was a very emotional moment.
My heartfelt thanks to all who contributed so generously, it was a very kind gesture and I can't really find the right words to express how I feel. However, the lasting reward from organising the parties has been to see so many people having a great time for so many years.
Our parties started out as being somewhat different to others at the time and it is with a certain amount of pride that we have observed many aspects that were A&R innovations, which have now been adopted by others.
Future parties will no longer be called Ann & Roly's parties, so we can close the last page of that book and open the first page of Ann's parties. I wish Ann well and hope that she continues to get the copious amounts of support from the people who have contributed so much to making A&R such a success.
We went out on a high, with our best ever party. Many thanks to all who made them so wonderful. Thanks to all who came along last night and particular thanks to those very special individuals who were not able to get there last night, but who have been such fabulous guests over the years.
Spare a thought for poor J, who will now be having to put up with me for a lot more time every month, but we are planning to get out and about and we hope to occasionally get along to other events around the UK as well as at The Factory, as and when our respective commitments allow it.
