rubber luv also do chlorination, and although I haven't had any of my stuff done by them, the pieces I've seen that they've chlorinated were really good.

I highly recommend Gord at Catalyst Latex for chlorination. I've sent a catsuit to be chlorinated and love the result. All my clients can into it without talc and dressing aid which means less mess for me to clear up. In fact I have another 3 suits that I intend to send to him in the New Year. I have also bought some opera gloves that he chlorinates before sending out to you. Excellent. Brilliant. *thumbs up* Home chlorination is a pain. If you have stacks of stuff to do then making up the mix on a wind free day in your sizeable garden with miles of washing line isn't an issue. Otherwise get Gord to do it. I've chlorinated a couple of things at home, roughly following Gord's instructions. No problems apart from realising that the bleach must be fresh. Old bleach doesn't work.

I'm a creative cheapskate so make a lot of my own rubber. Chlorination is a chemical process that I wouldn't trust myself to carry out competently - the risk of damaging hours or work put into making something is second only to the potential pain of ruining something that cost a fortune! I also know catalyst latex do chlorination and I've had a great lastminute.com service from them recently so will recommend them based on that. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing properly - if your brave or an expert, go for - otherwise call in the professionals.

You can still shine it but it will never shine as much as untreated latex. You have to decide what your priority is. Easy to put on with a permanent satiny shine or hard to put on with a glassy shine after using blue milk or vivishine. Vivishine is the best shiner there is. A tiny bit goes a long way and it leaves a wonderful shine with a slight greasy feel that also aids putting it on and taking it off. We barely noticed a difference between the shine before and after chlorination when we use Vivishine.......check our pics out, you do still get a high gloss so don't be too concerned on that.

From the warnings in Gord's instructions I was expecting something akin to WW1 gas warfare when I mixed the acid and bleach into the bucket. Possibly even a yellow-green choking cloud chasing me across the garden. In fact it was all remarkably tame. Please don't take that as an excuse to abandon all safety precautions. A lungful of chlorine is not nice; a splash of bleach or acid in the wrong place can hurt or damage clothes.

No, chlorination doesn't work on items with lube or shiner on it. They need to be cleaned thoroughly, in the washing machine is fine on a gentle wash. |
