Its Really Crap.:(

I am reluctant to give reasons atm as different people look for different things so if i say I dont like X, it may be that X is very important for someone else. So will hold back on this for the time being. Although obviously theres more scrolling due to the bullet points being at the bottom now instead of the right.

Just my perception and wonder if others agree ordisagree.

Oh and Merry Christmas

I'll give some reasons.

1. Its lost the ability to have all the buttons/tabs on 1 screen rather than one page meaning clumsy rather than smooth navigation.

2 all the data is pickled.

ie www.Mincepie-Mittenhead.icna.me

This is of little use to anyone other than the page owner and should be at the bottom not top.

threads and posts would be better together and so interests and/ followed by groups.

Rather than follow a logical order it seems to follow an illogical one, thought I would get used to it and given it some time but imo its mush. The last one was way better.

Sounds like you're seeing the Smartphone / Internet Explorer 7 version rather the layout most people see? (which has the box stuff on the right still not the bottom)

I was going to say that... so if you are not on a smartphone... there is a button on the bottom of the page to switch it back.

I think the right hand panel is a little messy though. The memo and chat buttons should be up by the name web link thing so that the communication bits are together. And then the group subscriptions should be lower down above the interests so that the lists are together. And blogs and posts should be together.

And then as I've got a long profile the right hand box is mostly empty, so maybe having a way to fill it up a bit could be nice like having a blogs of interest feature where those blogs the owner likes or are useful or adds to the profile could be added into that area. So I could put the blogs in there instead of having the links in my profile.

But on the whole I can live with it as it is, they are just changes my OCD is wanting and it can bugger off and keep an eye on me DVD collection.

Can you tell I'm bored and have nothing better to do with my life?
Well nothing more important to do.
Well nothing I can be bothered doing to do.
And you get to suffer my writings because of it.

Then you should ensure your design meets all the requirements of all Browsers, not just certain ones. As a technical author this is the Golden Rule...never change something that works. And always remember the End User is the customer!!

I agree, the current page layout, certainly in Explorer 7, is terrible in comparison to the previous edition.

Could you tell that to the people who have redesigned the Radio Times website because they have screwed it up big time.

It's not practical to deliver the same appearance to all versions of all browsers. Should we support NCSA Mosaic for instance? Google dropped support for IE7 and earlier this summer: if their sites work then fine, if not, then you're on your own.

And even though IE7 and earlier are particularly pathological browsers to support and they are only about 6% of IC's traffic, we do ensure they work, even if they don't manage as pretty a job as more recent versions of IE, and any recent version of Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera - all of which show something quite like this.

You should seriously consider upgrading to almost anything else if you're using IE7 still. It will improve your browsing experience on many other sites too.
