Agreed. It really pisses me off when people who don't know me, on account of me not mattering nearly as much as I think I do, don't move heaven and earth to factor me into their calculations. Still, at least I have my empirically accurate opinions of the world, which, if they'd have bothered to ask me in the first place, they'd have realised completely negate the need for such wide-ranging and qualitative judgments. Yet again this site shoots itself in the foot by failing to email me to check if it's okay for the rest of the planet to continue operating while I am not looking directly at it. The same thing happened when 9/11 went down. Nobody asked me whether I minded taking a 15% hit to the market value of my Porsche. Typical. Here are some small words for you to look at. But can you imagine all the people who haven't been on the site for months, years even who would then moan that IC was sending them spam? Giving people one month to come on and vote and 3 weeks to nominate poeple wasn't that hard, all the big names were nominated the first week and then the smaller names and people's personal favourites came later so the vast majority that were in with a chance of winning were nominated anyway. Surely emailing people who haven't been on ic for ages also means that there's a lot of them that won't have kept up with the scene or either don't know or care about who most of the nominees are. Maybe a bit more hype before it would help next year - a month for nominations and then a month for voting - stretches the workload out more for admin (which could be a good or bad thing). I did get Mammon to shout it out loudly at the Brum mid week munch and then Terry the DJ at the BBB to announce that IC members should go and vote so that was another 400 odd folk who may not have known about it. I was too busy heating you mince pies Sir Al the last time I saw you to even think about telling you about the awards!
