To have a fetish if we look at the meaning is and some definations is to have sexual attraction to objects, body parts viewed as non sexual in nature.
Therefore ANYTHING can be viewed as fetish clothing not just the leather, latex/rubber ect
|
Does something become fetish wear just because some people have a fetish for it? I'm not sure that everyday items could be classed as sex toys simply because some people use them as such.
|
Yes, that s exactly what it can mean. Fetishes and what is a fetish object or wear is not what bdsm fashion tells us it is, but what each person may feel about something.
So, although it is called fetish wear as an umbrella term, leather, rubber and PVC are not fetish wear to me. Nothing is as no clothes, even lycra cycling shorts on fit men actually work as sex objects or are necessary for sexual pleasure. What is fetish for one, may not be for another but we have to accept each others kinks. Dominant partner in an FLR with @paulss

Cycling Shorts
Hello all,
Does anyone here consider cycling shorts fetish wear at all?
Does anyone like wearing them?

Yes, and yes; cycling shorts are the seed from which my spandex fetish grew. From there, it's only a short hop over to leather/rubber/PVC fetishism; they're a gateway drug, I tell you!
Also, on a more practical level, the padding makes the crotch strap of a straitjacket much more comfortable...

I don't accept that something becomes fetish gear (to anyone other than the person with the fetish) just because someone claims a fetish to it. If an invitation called for fetish gear to be worn, turning up in ordinary clothes and saying one had a fetish for such clothes wouldn't really wash would it. My son wore his usual clothes to a fancy dress party and if challenged said he was a werewolf - it just was not a full moon. I am not saying that one kink is better than another just that fetish gear has a meaning to most that would not extend to anything considered a fetish by others. Maybe if it did I'd be more likely to attend a venue requiring fetish wear because then I could wear something in which I was comfortable. |

I'd like to hear from anyone (especially female) who might have had to wear them for PE lessons at school...

Yes and there's a little game I like to play with a sub, cycling shorts, a piece of chalk and a cane.
I get the sub to put on a pair of black cycling shorts and then tell them to assume the position touching their toes or holding their ankles. I draw a white line with the chalk across the lycra clad bottom and then aim for it with the cane. I then cane the sub until I've managed to knock the chalk line off and will then give them the same number of strokes with the cycling shorts down. This tends to focus the sub's mind on keeping still and giving you the best chance of hitting the line of chalk... |

I think we are discussing different things. You are talking merely about 'fetish' clothing and what may or may not be termed it. That stuff is bdsm fashion and kinky/alternative clothing in the main and does not relate to sexual fetishes
I am saying a fetish, in its original and dictionary meaning does allow that items of a non sexual nature are fetishes because people need them for their sexual satisfaction, hence items I have encountered in the last fifteen years which are genuine fetishes. Examples are kitchen aprons, shoes (especially smelly ones), enemas, pain and so on. Dominant partner in an FLR with @paulss

Well the OP asked if they were considered fetish wear. Anything can be the object of a fetish so no need to ask if something can be such.
As for my preferences I don't like them at all. Too tight and shiny and, unless the man has a great physique, most unflattering. |
