I was talking to a Dom on another site who strongly believes that submission is a gift, not my view but made me think, if submission is a gift, is Dominance a gift?

I may have to revise my letter to Sata!

Or is it more the case that because the submissive chooses whether to enter into the D/s relationship (of course, the dom has to choose to do so too!), her 'gift' of submission is her conscious decision to submit to that specific dom?

All good relationships are a gift ... So of course the gift of submission is receprocated by the gift of care by the Dominant.

As strange as it might sounds all relationships should be equal in their own way

Submission is never a gift, a pair of Louboutins is a gift, a tube of parma violets is a gift, a salon treatment is a gift.

Submission is a noun, like Louboutins, or parma violets, or salon treatment, but it is not a gift, it is an act of submitting.
