Fetbook (http://fetbook.ning.com/) (24)

This post is on the Other BDSM web board.

I randomly came across Fetbook. Apparently this is the Facebook for kinky people. As I don't even have a Facebook profile anymore (yes, it seems odd, but anything Goldman Sachs has got its tenticles into is something best stayed away from) does anyone know anything about this site, good or bad.

Thanks

Just googled it already seen a couple of people I know on their home page. So it looks as if it's a proper site. Not sure if I'll sign up yet though as I think here and FetLife might be enough. But then again I may do.

It definitely has a more socially-networky smell to it than IC, so I'm more inclined to compare it with FetLife. From that point of view, I really don't see what it has to offer that FetLife hasn't already done bigger and better, with the possible exception of the chat room.

Having said that, I'm happy to give it a go and prove myself wrong.

kinkyspace.com is another. Ive signed up, but never go there. I'll look that this one, just out of curiosity. Oh, and then there is "alternative community" or something. Just too many to keep track of, really. LOL

Honestly it just looks like a cheap knock off of FaceBook to me. I don't see what it could that I.C. doesn't already do.

I'll be surprised if it lasts.

I thought Fetlife was the kinky Facebook.

Oh, and Fetbook has moved. Already.

They said that about alt, bondage, collarme etc..it's early days I guess for fetbook, IC was started what ? about 1997 so fetboook has some catching up to do..

IC is not a highly designed, attractive web site. It's members seem to be wishing to keep it a purist site dedicated to all things bdsm. Which is a shame really because I think it could do more.

If the owner of fetbook is commited enough and the market for UK bdsm/kinksters/fet people to which it appeals grows, then the site should last. It does look a little like a cheap copy of facebook, but it's easy on the eye with all what you need at first glance on it's front page.

My opinion is..the owner has to go into the international market, europe, usa for bigger spread..

I followed Mistress Rouge there, & signed-up to see how it developed. The layout is quite Fbk-like, but without all the commercial madness, thus far at least.

Not much happening there as yet, although it's very early days obviously. IC is head and shoulders above every other site of its kind that I know of, but I peek in to see who has signed-in and what's going on.

Like @Ama_Elf, I also signed-up to KinkySpace a while ago, but I rarely log in there now. It's difficult to predict how these sites will develop, and then some folk will doubtless adore sites that don't really push my buttons in the long run. IC's still unquestionably my favourite. :)
