He's a masochist and he was whipped, that sounds sexual to me? Although an orgy implies more than a tiny room with a few people in it, but what can one expect for £2,500? I'm not sure what the collective noun is for a small number of loose women, perhaps a tittering of prostitutes?
Anyway, I'd like to offer my support to Mr Moseley for getting the term "Nazi Orgy" removed from the Internet. When I'm doing 'research' into Germanic titillation, I find it deflating to see 71 year old crinklies coming top of the search results all the time , Edited 15 Dec 11, 10:16 AM by Prussian_blue

.. a small number of loose women......ITV 1 around lunchtime. A humble of pro subs. A lashing of pro dommes. A slime of tabolid journos. One day I'll have something better to do with my time!

You'd think with the population growing as it is, the definitions of groups would grow as well. You know, it used to be that "a few" was 3, but as the population grows perhaps "a few" could be 5 or 10. But instead the terms are shrinking: "an orgy" of 5 (should be 15!), an "audience of one" should be at least 3! Maybe they just don't like groups of people? The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Although the BBC have effectively stuck their tongue out at the complaint, it wouldn't surprise me if the reporter - assuming the complaint reached their ears - used the more accurate term in future. For what it's worth, you're right - the language used matters. Orgy isn't the most accurate term as it creates the image of a mass of naked bodies promiscuously having random sex. However, I'm less sure that it's offensive in this context. It might be sensationalist. It might be dumbing down. IMHO The BBC are more likely to respond to the accuracy and sensationalist accusations than the offensive one. For anyone feeling the need to complain in future, it's always a good idea to provide an alternative term - in this case 'BDSM scene - to the one that is offending.' edited for clarity.

Well I was wondering what an appropriate term would be and I suppose 'BDSM scene' is as good as any. Any other alternatives terms anyone? Apparently I do have the opportunity to respond to their response if I am not happy with it so any ideas would be useful. "A leader leads by example, whether he intends to or not." |
