Posting a weblog on someone else's weblog page (7)

This post is on the Website help web board.

I was checking the blogs of someone who has started a thread (@jessica8811) and I noticed that there was a button that seemed to allow me to post a blog on her profile, so I tried it and it seems that I have. That seems truly weird. Is it just me that can see it? Or is this a glitch?

ETA Seems that this is not true for all profiles so perhaps it is a particular setting that needs to be set or changed?

There is an option within your Weblog etc settings which allows you to enable others to start weblogs on your weblog page. It was probably intended for groups, but is available to all, should they choose it.

I have the perfect accent for conflict resolution, shame about the personality.

Indeed there is and it can be selected for everyone on IC or your network etc. Very strange. Blimey. I guess part of recent changes. Why would anyone want others to be able to put blogs on their profile? Particularly any IC member.

ETA and it shows up on the Threads page as well. Stranger still.

It was added ages ago, at the same time as groups.

Say you are in a poly family and a have a profile for that, setting its sex/gender as Not Stated. You then add all the members to its network and want them to be able to start threads on its blog.

(It is probably an unnecessary feature, since it could just be done by creating a group instead, but it does have a use.)

Thanks everyone. Good thread. I'd some how managed to set mine like that too, but have now un-ticked the boxes in question, thanks to reading this.. Must have been half-asleep when I ticked them in the first place..

Dear Admin

Thanks for the explanation. I am clearly somewhat behind the curve. Not trying to be a pest but a couple of quick points.

I can sort of see what you mean about the poly relationship but that wouldn't need the option of any IC member being able to post on a weblog. And it seems very odd that the blog I posted on the other member's weblog seems to appear on the Recent Threads page. Or is that just for me?

Isn't that if you 'follow' someone so that you don't lose their thread, or their blog??
