firstly can i say sorry this isnt D/s
secondy, can i also ask for you to stay on topic as i really would like some constructive help
I've been asked to coordinate a dinner for some OAPs - all sorted, and the visitors, the food and transport are all in place
its just that we have a litle left that i can get them a gift with...
so do i go for the easy option - box of chocs each?
or do i go for a little box of useful goodies, like tea, biscuits etc...
they are of mixed backgrounds, and mixed abilities, so some in care homes, some not, some financially ok,others not..
the chocs (to me) seems a cop out, but if we go goodies, what would you put in a box..(really not a huge budget hre, so sensible answers only please)
so - my two questions 1- chocs, box goodies, (or other suggesion) 2 -what would you suggest in a box if we go that route
thanks xx

i know, and thats one reason not to go chocs, but ultimately i wont find anyting that suits everyone, so it has to be with best intent. There will be carers for the more vulnerabkle, so they'd know what they've been given.thanks x Edited 6 Dec 11, 8:20 AM by just_iana

I'd go for goodies; teas, preserves, pickles, biscuits, sachets of chocolate drinks. It really depends on your budget but there are so many 3 for 2 deals in places like Boots and BHS that you could stretch it further. You could also ask if there is a further discount as you're buying quantities.

At my work people donate an item towards a hamper and we sell raffle tickets n use the money to buy gifts.. usually its those little packs of body washes you can get for a couple of pounds from boots.. we wrap it up for them and they love it!
Even if you went with chocs.. they will like it.. especially if they wernt expecting anything

If you have time make it a little more personal, buy each of them something that they like...a bit of baccy or beer for the men, smellies or their fav tipple in a small bottle.
Perhaps a scarf here or there for the ones that like to partake of a bit of fresh air. To be honest they will not be expecting anything, I have been going to an old folks home as a guest to help out at such occassions for over a year now and prior to that I worked there for a year. The fact that you have organised this for them will be enough. It is not easy to buy something for someone who has had most things throughout their lives. jxx "Take me from this earth an endless night- this, the end of life. If you know anything about the guests finances. If they are tight then a little luxury, jams, marmalade and the like. Are you having a father Christmas Also have you approached the local Lions and Rotary clubs, they could help both with money and presents.

Remember,, and this is very important ,, i reallly am not trying to put a downer on thing's because this is for your well being,, the large amount of work put in can bring great result's,, but some OAPs are determined to complain ,, whatever you do,, because thats what some do,, wether for a laugh or because they hate themselves so regardless of your efforts Smile and persevear, because most are going have their day made Please excuse crap spelling cause i,m rubbish Edited 6 Dec 11, 10:51 AM by MisstressvsSolicedog

^^^This. And if you shop around you can make up quite a nice bag by buying sets then splitting it. I did Christmas bags for the girls who worked for me once. The 3 for 2 deals, 3 bathbombs/lipglosses/etc in each packet, plus some other odds & ends made quite nice bags for not a lot. (I think the owner had allowed me a fiver each, generous that he was. But they still had the goodies & I remember there was still enough for those floating bath lights and a lighted mirror for their handbags....) You could mix bath goodies with practical goodies, like exotic herbal tea bags. I wonder where you get those little jam packets though - costco?
Also, no doubt they will all look at their things and then swap them if they don't like them. So I wouldn't worry too much about it being perfect.... A lovely thing to do!
