Upgrade to the 'Going Lists' for event organisers (11)

This thread is a continuation of "Admin's question for event organisers", and "Admin's Test Event"

This post is on the Website help web board.

We've made some updates to the "X members are going" lists on event announcement threads. Most of these changes are for event organisers, but there are a couple for all members too:
  • when you look at these "going lists", any one who is also on your network is shown in bold (and your name is bolded too.)
  • deleting the "X is going to Y" update from your wall doesn't remove you from the going list. However, removing yourself from the going list does delete the wall update.

We've also made some major additions for event organisers, following on from last month's request for ideas.

When you look at your event, there is a link to a view of the going list in more detail. All of the information we provide on that page is available already, but the page presents it more conveniently as a table with more options. (If you posted your event thread using a group profile, you'll need to use that profile to access the going list page.)

For each member who has said they're going, there is a row in the table showing their IC Name, the date they first said they were going (ie the date on that wall update), whether they are still going, the date you last sent them a memo, and notes you can edit yourself (eg to say "paid in advance".) You can sort this table by different columns by clicking on the heading of that column.

You can add more members and non-members to that page for your convenience, but they will not appear on the public going list. The whole table including these manually added entries can be downloaded in CSV format for importing into almost any spreadsheet program (eg Microsoft Excel.) The filename of these CSV files includes the current date so that also provides a convenient way of backing up this table.

Each member who is still saying they are going has a tickbox in their row, and you can send the same memo to all the ticked members in one go. This means you can choose subsets of the going list to send reminders to - eg untick all the people who have paid already, and then send a reminder to the rest.

(Since event organisers can't tick members who are not currently saying they are going, they cannot mass memo random people. If an organiser overuses this feature, people can opt-out again by removing their names.)

As usual, please report any bugs on this thread.

Had a quick test and it works well.
  • Adding both IC and non IC members as guests works.
  • Adding an IC member and then them saying they are going updates their status.
  • Notes work
  • Column sorting works (Updating notes for all those that have paid and then sorting that column means you have all your unpaids together)

I haven't tried the memo function yet but will do soon.

Thanks @Admin for doing that :)

Thanks for testing it and reporting that it does actually work for other people! :)

So, as an organiser, can you now see those that selected "interested" but you are not following or are not in your network? :)

No, event organisers can't see them on these Going List pages since they're not "maybe going" but more like "Like" or "Bookmark".

Ah, fair enough. Thanks for the speedy response.

ETA: I love the way organisers can get a CSV file of those that say they are attending, and that we can add non-ICers. That will be very handy

I want to hold you close / Skin pressed against me tight
Lie still, and close your eyes, girl / So lovely, it feels so right
I want to hold you close / Soft breasts, beating heart
As I whisper in your ear / I want to f*cking tear you apart

We've made a small (but handy!) change to the going lists page that event organisers can see. There's now a "+?" entry for each person that's going that lets the organiser add extra people they'll be coming with. ie "plus ones" but it goes up to +9. So if someone says they're going and in their post says they're bringing two friends, you can change their count from +0 to +2.

These numbers are included in the total count of how many people are going on the organiser's going list page. So you can discount people who are still listed but you know aren't going you can also set it to -1 to remove them from the count.

None of this affects the number shown to everyone on the thread itself, or the names listed. These +? numbers are included as an extra column in the CSV spreadsheet files organisers can download from the going list pages.

How does Paul Dacre have a two word user name?

And all men kill the thing they love, By all let this be heard, Some do it with a bitter look, Some with a flattering word, The coward does it with a kiss, The brave man with a sword!

Does all this new functionality for events extend to munches too? As a co-organiser of the J-Munch I wanted to try this and couldn't see any link. We also would have liked to do a memo to all on our network but couldn't see any way to do this either. I should add that I was logged in as the J-Munch at the time, not as Leopard99.

Should be whoever starts the thread i think. So if the J-Munch started the thread for it, they should be able to see the link.

Now where were we? Ah, yes - abject humiliation!
