It's something been thinking about a bit lately,
I was told that a gentlemen is typified by Johnston McCaulleys character in the Mask of Zorro as he is well turned out and can do a decent tango.
However I get at least one person a week telling me they believe me to be a gentlemen Not so much in terms of my kink life just at work and around town. I can't do the Tango and don't have to many fancy suits in my wardrobe and I've not got a foreign accent.
Mind I do have one advantage over Zorro – I don't have to have Anthony De Longis to come and crack my whips for me.

Its a horrible word really, it implies that to be decent a man has to be a certain way, and yet it is still used as a compliment. It tends to talk about open doors and all that chivelry stuff. | ||

The final test of a gentleman is his respect for those who can be of no possible service to him. William Lyon Phelps *** If the gentleman has ability, he is magnanimous, generous, tolerant, and straightforward, through which he opens the way to instruct others. Xun Zi Or maybe: A gentleman is simply a patient wolf. Lana Turner

I guess the definition of a gentleman has evolved over time.If you'd taken a poll 50/100 years ago people perhaps would have talked of chivalry, courtesy and impeccable manners blah blah blah, particularly when in the company of the 'fairer' sex. Now, not too sure. How's about 'a gentleman (or lady for that matter) is one who, when in bed, always farts 'outwards''
