Years ago we ran awards to recognise some of the great
events and businesses contributing to the scene in the UK.
We're going to do this again this year, with voting between the 1st and 30th of December with the announcements on New Year's Eve. All non-group profiles that have been used since 1st December 2010 and were created before this evening will be eligible to vote. We have 7 categories:
Nominees must be based in the UK and operating at some time between 1st December 2010 and 1st December 2011. We're now accepting nominations. Please post them on this thread after checking someone else hasn't already nominated them! We'll collect the nominees from this thread so people have some to choose from on Thursday when voting starts. We're going to continue to accept nominations by memo to @Admin until 24th December, and there will be a special voting page that will allow people to update their votes and review the nominations if they wish. I'd like to nominate the Leeds Kinky Drinkies for the munch category. That may sound arrogant because I'm now the group leader - however, the original idea was someone else's so I really can't take any of the credit. The reason I'm nominating it - because we're now in our eighth month, with no loss of interest ( in fact we had around 80 people at the last one ) and also because we've been the influence on no end of splinter groups - the wakefield bite night, the leeds library munch etc etc. Since we started, York has started a Kinky Drinks, and so has Manchester - both have acknowledged that Leeds was an inspiration for them to do so. All of a sudden, Leeds and West Yorkshire has a buzzing and vibrant fetish scene, the likes of which I would never have expected a year ago. As I say, I take none of the credit. I would like to Nominate Clover for photographer, shes relatively new to it but is fresh and captures the spirit of her models really well. I'd like to second Ash with LKD for munch, its a fantastic night, very welcoming and it has indeed started a trend. For Event it would have to be femsubclubsocial, what an amazing night in the most outstanding venue. (exodus for clarity)

I'm afraid I have to put a vote in for the Chester munch, and I can no longer be accused of any favouritism as I've stepped down from helping organising it. It is however an incredibly friendly and welcoming munch, and six does an amazing Job of making both newbies and somewhat less newbies feel welcome and relaxed. I'll be honest and say I don't expect it to win, as for some reason most of its attendees seem to be on fetlife, but if anyone reading this has been along then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about, so please take the time to vote for it on Thursday. Are these awards going to be judged on quality rather than quantity? If 400 people vote for club A, with a capacity of 230, does that mean it will win over a far better club with a capacity of 30 which gets 54 votes? If so the voting system is exactly the kind of voting system which isn't thought suitable for rating pictures. Many times it has been iterated by Admin that photo ratings are not to be done on popularity but on quality. A far better system would be to get an independent panel of people who are generally well thought of who get around to events to give their thoughts, eg Cosmic1 or TheProf. I have the perfect accent for conflict resolution, shame about the personality. | |

Similar concepts, but different interpretations. The London one was ground-breaking, the Northern one has had the benefit of a fantastic venue and has taken full advantage to offer a wide range of activities/treats.
