Poor you. I had the implanon implant and it did much the same thing.
If it's any help with the messy side of things, I found a mooncup works wonderfully.

I have a mooncup - it doesn't cope with my tidal wave of unpleasantness! (There's a whole anectdotal incident story here but its far too horrid for public consumption!)

OMG!!!!
I'm quite interested in what happens as I didn't have anything done to replace the Implanon. I lost 6 years of my life with that thing, I wasn't going to lose anymore. And seriously, I haven't looked back. Good luck!

I'll drop you a memo later!

Ugh - the mirena coil. Family planning clinics love it and push it at every opportunity. Personally I think it's overrated.
I had a ghastly time with the coil in ways very similar to you. Cried at the slightest thing for 18 months and put on over a stone. Within days of having it taken out, I started to feel normal again. Clearly, the doctor's insistence that the progesterone the coil releases is 'local rather than systemic' was a load of bollocks.
Then in more recent years, also had the same gynae problems as you; couldn't leave the house, ended up at anaemic for months on end. An endometrial ablation fixed it. Simple procedure, quick recovery. Never looked back.
The ablation procedure means you mustn't get pregnant so it's only suitable if you don't want kids or you're past child bearing age.
You should not be suffering like this with the mirena coil. I hope your doctor can find another way to treat your symptoms. Good luck. |

Thank you! It's reassuring to find that there are other womene with experiences to myself.
I'm dreadfully hormonal at the minute.
What method of ablation did you have? Please feel free to memo me with details. I certainly don't want kids and I'm a peri-menopausal 46!
