"Too Many Idiots On Here" (68)

This post is on the Other BDSM web board.

One persons idiot is another persons God ...... besides, the person recieving the memo may also be an idiot.

These things have a way of working themselves out, and some of the alternatives - "Mein kampf" for example - are not always better ones.

Quit whinging and get sifting - exterminating or banning those frogs is not the answer - sometimes you just have to pucker up and see what happens next .......

Ever wondered who the devil comes to for ideas ?

What intrigues me is why you enter into a correspondence with someone who has sent you only a very short memo and has an empty profile?

It seems to me that if someone wants to send you a message, and that they are a reasonable person, they would tell you enough about themselves to encourage you to want to reply - maybe by attaching a pre-written profile to their message, or telling you things that would normally be in a profile.

The kind of people who don't do that are probaby also the kind of people who "have problems with idiots".

Yur post which began with the words 'Usually presumably' suggested a person with little in their profile had poor language skills, etc, etc. I was just adding balance although of course I would fill in the information/personality blanks before replying to someone's ad so there is a definite anomally but not necessarily a grammatical one.

That's like people saying I may live in a hostel for the homeless and wear rags but I hvae a country mansion and a great wardrobe. If I were trying to assess a man and he has a blank profile then that's going to put me off even if he's written more books than I have.

I have not said I don't communicate with someone with a blank profile anyway but he'd certainly have to ensure he rights the balance by email pretty quickly to make me think he was okay.

I have virtually nothing in my profile - that did not prevent me being published to commission.

Back to the question in hand - male doms answering ads frequently don't have a picture, not even a symbolic illustration as an avator. This with few words other than BDSM interests to go on leaves the beginnings of interaction quite difficult. I'd be interested in why it's this group of IC users who are so reticent.

This is not a whingey post, just a thought which occurred to me.

Sometimes I am messaged by members (Doms) with empty profiles, or very succint ones. When I observe this I like to enquire about it rather than judge and ignore. I receive a variety of responses but the one which I find hard to grapple with is,

"I had problem with idiots on here" or words to that effect.

My question therefore is - if you cannot handle "idiots" or troublemakers from behind a PC screen, how do you propose to handle an emotional submissive resisting and lashing out at you in real-life?

It concerns me, but is this a reasonable question to ask?

This is so true...I do have to work with a number on a weekly basis...Lucky I have the weekends off..No wonder the bankers are able to grab so much..

Blank profiles, profiles with a 3000 word life story on... I have spoken to both and everything in between and found idiots in all areas.

What is an idiot to me. Examples are, someone who makes contact with YOU and then arses about or comes on too strong thinking online domination is cool.

See, it works both ways Mr Domin<koff>ant. :-D

I don't discount people with little on their profile but would expdect them to be able to write in emails as much as I give on my profile with relative ease. However it is definitely off putting. That is simply because I want someone well educated and clever. There are loads of good people out there who find writing very hard (indeed a surprising number of people in the UK cannot read although they would be unlikely to be on line). If you don't need literacy then the fact they cannot write much may not matter.

If writing 500 words is a very difficult task for someone then they probably are not compatible with me.

For true compatability, I hope they missed the same day at school as you. The one where they explained the use of commas. :)

Blank profile????

Reticent dyslexic?

The picture of my pert tits says it all?

I have nothing of interest to say?

I'll fill it in when I sober up?

I'm too busy making dazzling witty and insightful posts to have time to fill in a profile?

I don't mind someone contacting me with a blank profile, as long as they are open and forthcoming from that point forward.

Some great people are out there with minimal profiles for whatever reason.

My personal gripe is people that hold back from real life contact.ie, no cam no phone or no coffee chat. life really is to short.

However the more idiots out there, the smarter i look :-p

You have a bit on your profile about a cam, which sticks out as important as it is in block capitals, that would put me off straight away as I hate them. Yes I have a pic but it doesn't ask for that. x x
