In your ideal world no one would ever be judgemental (hands David an archway of flaars, backlit by golden lighting, angels singe, blue birds flutter by with ribbons)

BUT

when someone I respect says something was a "sausage roll" event I know exactly what they mean and I count my lucky stars I didn't attend.

I think the horse has bolted on this one.

Beginning with U35 events for people who were not able to foresee the time when they themselves would be excluded, and on to sectarian munches, and events geared only for specific orientations.

The idealistic notion of the scene as one big inclusive and tolerant family is long gone, and maybe it was only ever a temporary illusion.

The desire to associate only with PLU's always seems to prevail. It's a bit sad in a way, but it's what people seem to want.

I've certainly enjoyed events where a wide range of diverse people attended. I've also been quite appalled at having to endure the presence of people I would not give the time of day to in any other context. The club anyone can join can be great, it can also be excruciating.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there.

I was told by a friend that comments had been made that i made people's skin crawl and he decided to judge me for himself.

I was gutted but then thought fuck it i dont need to seek anyone's approval but then when i organised dark_play i toiled with the idea of running it because i know the work @mars_4 had put in and i didn't want my reputation to ruin their club.

I look to certain people on guests lists and think can i tolerate 4 hours of being in their company if i cant i dont go or i see if there is anyone i can be with.

Perhaps Groucho Marx hit the nail on the head when he stated that, "I donīt want to join any club that would have me as a member".

Sadly the concept of supporting all seems to have been lost on them but also it appears the basic human principle of watching how others treat people and understanding that one day the tide may turn and that they will treat you.

Quite, I have always worried about how those people see the world and who exactly votes in those who decide what/who is Fabulous Dharlink!! at any given time. After all if we just ignored them then their opinion would have no meaning accept to themselves, which in all honesty should be the only person it matters to.

Unfortunately those sycophants who elevate these people to the position of event critics have only themselves to blame when events and clubs disappear into the ether and they are suddenly unable to find anywhere interesting to go.

I love that quote and can think of several evenings it could apply to :-)

As I have never been given an IQ test before attending an event - does that mean I have only been to "stupid" ones?
