I have been meaning to write this blog for a while but the real world so often gets in the way. Some time ago I was at an event and over heard someone saying "no we don't go there that's a stupid persons event".
After a little digging around it transpires that according to this specific social group there are "in" or clever events and "out" or stupid events.
I have resisted the temptation to stop the person again and have a chat about this concept but it does seem to be rather counter productive to the concept of fighting for social acceptance of kinky people if we cant all respect each other in a civil way.
Sadly the concept of supporting all seems to have been lost on them but also it appears the basic human principle of watching how others treat people and understanding that one day the tide may turn and that they will treat you. I suppose the person in question was of the belief that while all was rosie in the garden they should just go with the flow and enjoy their social acceptance.
I guess this is just an extension of YKIOKBINMK maybe it should be YEIOKBDEAOUTWTHOAGPWY (you event is OK but don't expect all of us to want to hang out and get pissed with you).
Hopefully this is just a temporary flash in the pan and normal inclusive supportive service can resume.

I would have asked them. If I am in the same room as them point me in their direction and I shall pump them for you.
Tolerance is not a characteristic BDSM people are generally over endowed with, viz the swinging and BDSM thread. Reading it you get the impression that were Peter Sutcliffe to add child molesting to his CV he would still get a better press. I have the perfect accent for conflict resolution, shame about the personality.

Fear not I had already made a mental note to suggest it as one over your mystery shopper trips. David

I would put it thus "Tolerance is not a characteristic people are generally over endowed with" BDSM people as a group are no better and no worse than any other group. "The unexamined life is not worth living" - Socrates

I could understand if they wanted to go to "good" events and stay away from "bad" ones. That makes sense to me. Would someone enlighten me as to what a "clever" and "stupid" event actually is? As I have never been given an IQ test before attending an event - does that mean I have only been to "stupid" ones? Be the change you want to see in the world. - Gandhi.

People just like being in cliques. Whether it is "clever" vs "stupid" or "I don't approve of xyz kink" they are afraid to stand up as an individual. The one who claims to be innocent |
