"The kinky scene is usually connected with a fetish for Nazi uniforms." Seems a pretty unambiguous statement to me. Not much room for misinterpretation. I too know MsTytania and agree with Ishmael. After thirty years fetish clubbing i've seen Nazi uniforms less than once a year. Let's face it, the uniforms are dead sexy even though we presumably disagree with the idealogy. By replacing the swastika with another emblem, Miss Sidonia of the English Mansion can wear an otherwise authentic Nazi uniform with impunity. Long may she continue to do so. As an aside, people don't seem to have the same revulsion about hammer and sickle uniforms despite Stalin being one of the most inhumane , cruel, mass murderers of the last century. c

Thanks for posting the link. Vintage Ms Tytania. I do think that some people who don't understand her style or some of her allusions might have difficulty working out which bits are tongue in cheek and which bits she really means. One thing surprised me; two digits ...
That is true!

Or the same revulsion for emblems used in real life slavery, or 'rape play' or 'age play' or anything which might have controversial elements if one chose to analyse them in particular ways. No, but just mention the word 'nazi' though and all of a sudden it is only allowed to be used by those 'qualified' to mention it in ways that will not make Joe Public think we are mad, bad and dangerous to know. We really cannot say we accept the kinks of each other and also say certain kinks are unwise to speak of in case it gives the wrong impression. We have to either believe in YKIOK or not and if it is the former, we have to stick together and say we will speak of all our kinks with freedom and as if they are all of value within our community. We cannot pick and choose which we judge to be allowed a voice and are legitimate. It is hypocrisy. I messaged Ms T. over on FetLife an back came this reply,(permission granted to quote) What I was trying to say when I talk to her, which I did for over 20 minutes (and God knows, I can talk in that time!), was that my work is an alternative or challenge to perceived cliches and mannerisms in kink, and how they perpetuate themselves at the expense of other, more personal possibilities: Nazi uniforms or stiletto heels, and signs of power, in my example. I created the UC-SC as an alternative fetish, where the power, discourse and aesthetics of the extreme left gets fetishized and commodified by the sex industry. Which to me pretty much proves what I've always thought. That She's not interested in that oh so boring doin it by the numbers stuff, but is off doin more interestin stuff. An IMO, the journo put in the most spicey bits. An Hoooray for that ! We need peeps like this, otherwise it's jus dull. fuck "Yeah I like Kinky stuff, dirty dark pervy stuff, weird sex....

I too am a great admirer of Valerie Solanas. The Scum Manifesto is an exhilarating read and also very funny.

I don't understand how anyone could read the article with the quote in context and put the OP's construction on it! It was never a question of Time Out taking a quote out of context, it was the OP that did that. Before speculating on what she may or may not have meant, I would ask any other contributors to read the link posted by @Ms_Valentine and quoted by @Wonderer. It is perfectly clear what she means when you read what she actually says! Edit to say she is a bloody Feminazi though! It's only a weblog Edited 1 Dec 11, 12:34 AM by Romola

Indeed that is my belief also. I have read and re-read the article several times, and still can only understand it one way, the way it was meant and it appears, was understood by most people.
