The new layout is confusing and hard to navigate. Whats happened to private chat has it been deleted. Ladies please be careful how you cross your legs ! It might result in Stiffness. !

If you go to a profile (look at mine for example) there is a little smiley next to the "last visit - online now" status.
Also, you can go to http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/chat/IndelibleM... and just replace the name at the end with the name of the person you want to chat with Patrick Edited 17 Nov 11, 4:25 PM by IndelibleMarker

Thanks - I didn't know that either. So there's no button for "chat"... you just have to type in CHAT and then the name of the person. Funny way to design a website!

Just go to the member's profile page and if they have chat enabled, there is a link to "XYZ's chat page" in the column on the right (or at the bottom in smartphone mode.) Admin Remember: it's only a website

There is - people who have chat active on their profiles have a little icon you click next to their online status in their profile which takes you to their chat page. Patrick

Hi Carman - quite agree that the new layout is confusing. E-mail addresses seem to have disappeared also. But messages will appear at the top of the page - so if someone is trying to message you you will see a "1" beside "messages". This format is more difficult and it would have been nice to have some warning of the change!

There's not much point to warning when a website changes because you can only find out how it works by exploring the finished version. Any time a popular website changes it's format the users of it get up in arms. I did it recently for my private stock portfolio. The reality is, you get used to it quickly - and in this case, the layout is far more user friendly to the average person using IC. Personally, I'd like to see the search input be moved to the top, but other than that, it's excellent and has maintained the underlying characteristics that makes IC, IC... Oh and there was an explanation of the changes as they were released "IC updates" within the website help board.

Well to be honest, the new layout is definitely more user friendly. IC still looks like something from the Ice Age, and is a great source of amusement amongst many, but hey, it's got nice big buttons for those of us who haven't the patience to ferret out minute links in walls of text and images, like many sites are nowadays.

For me, that is a big attraction, it is simple, straightforward, well laid out and because largely text based, fast, and very smartphone friendly. Too many sites try to be overly graphic rich and end up slow and bloaty as a result. Amazon is a great example of a fast efficient site that packs in load of information without an overtly complex layout or hard to navigate interface.
