The Trans Related Group has disappeared with, so far as I can tell, no warning. The profile says it has been deleted. Am I right in thinking that the moderator of a group is its "owner" and so can delete the group profile at will with no discussion or warning? I should stress that this is purely a question; I'd like to know when and why the group was deleted but that isn't essential. The moderator of the group had been looking for someone to take over with, I believe, no success which could well be the reason if it was indeed how it was deleted. ETA Presumably the profile can be revived as well, again at the whim of the previous owner of the profile? Or the password could be given to someone else to revive the group? And if you click on the profile, at least on my computer, it says that the profile has been deleted. I did check it before posting... Is this something unique to my version of IC?

If there was someone willing to do it, a new group profile could be set up with a link to the old threads so that the contributions weren't lost.

Yes: we always refer to them as a group owner to make that clearer.
Yes to both, but the current owner would need to hand over / reset the password. Regards Admin Remember: it's only a website

That's the best way for members who want to carry on with a group to do it. Regards Admin Remember: it's only a website

It seems to me that the Trans related group was one of the more important of the groups on IC, if only to keep arguments off the main boards, someone should be invited to take it on. Wouldn't it be better, seeing that they are called "groups" if they could only be set up and moderated by more than one person, say three minimum? It seems churlish for the moderator of this group to unilaterally delete the profile without discussion. It might of been nice to start a thread on "Who wants to be moderator?" and pass it on. Did no one bother to read the post posted to the group explaining it's deletion and why it shouldn't be reinstated?
