I'm finding that mid 'lady' cycle my usual carb craving has been replaced by the need for salty and sweet, I found some butter fudge with sea salt yesterday that did the trick...but I love caramel pretzels too...
What's it about? There used to be a time when a hunk of bread and butter would do the trick...no...now I'm going all Nigel Slater when my hormones run amok!

Turning posh, innit. As a matter of interest, where did you buy the pretzels? ~ It is always by way of pain one arrives at pleasure ~

Don't let @Carenza_Lionheart see this blog, she's very odd about sweet & savoury. Fruitcake and cheese, anyone? Not huffy or stuffy, nor tiny or tall,
But fluffy, just fluffy, with no brains at all.

for me it's olives .. or pesto.. Defiled is my name full sore Through cruel spite and false report That I may say for evermore Fairwell to joy, adieu comfort For wrongfully ye judge of me Unto my fame a mortal wound Say what ye list, it may not be Ye seek for that shall not be found.. I am sooo glad to read this as I thought it was just me lol .... slated peanuts and chocolate in the same mouthful usually work for me "You and you alone make me feel that I am alive. Other men it is said have seen angels, but I have seen thee and thou art enough." ~ George Moore

A friend of mine is obsessed with the quest for the perfect sweet and salty combo. He's been known to enjoy chuppa-chupps dipped in humus and prawn crackers dipped in ice cream. Yuk. He's male and gay so it can't be a lady cycle thing, lol. I need to introduce him to you so you can inject some gastronomical sophistication into him.

yes! Fruitcake and cheese is very doable! Also I've been cooking 16th/17thc food for 20 years now, and they often used odd combos... lots of fruit and meat together, I have a recipe for 'beef burgers' essentially just mince beef and (Christmas) Mince meat mixed together and cooked as a pattie. K x

Salted caramel cupcakes from Cherry Vampyre I find are pretty phenomenal. Using milkshake to bring all the boys to my yard since 1972
