Just seen the crash on the M5, knowing that stretch of road particularly well it brought home the dangers of driving. Feel very sorry for the people involved and the families of those who died. 27 deaths is really quite unbelievable... Must have been hell.

Thoughts are with these families and friends this morning ...

Its not 27 deaths - 27 cars were involved.

It was 27 vehicles about 35 injuries and several deaths, so not as bad as people are making out but still terrible.

Can you tell I'm bored and have nothing better to do with my life?
Well nothing more important to do.
Well nothing I can be bothered doing to do.
And you get to suffer my writings because of it.

That sort of makes it better but still ... having been up and down that motorway myself frequently and doing a 180km round trip on the motorway every day for work.... does bring it home a bit.

Everyone will be affected. Even if you dont have any physical injuries and managed to walk away, its the whole 'experiencing it' which will be with you for the rest of your life in some way.

I feel for those there, their family and friends of all involved.

The darkest moments of our lives are not to be buried and forgotten, rather they are a memory to be called upon for inspiration to remind us of the unrelenting human spirit and our capacity to overcome the intolerable...

That is indeed true. I witnessed and got involved in a terrible road tragedy in which two young lives were lost a couple of years ago, and it had a deep impact.

Update

On our way to work this morning at north peth, we went on the a38, all the floats were stored at the northpeth end of the main road so we had to go over the m5 through some lanes and out the other end.

north peth cancelled their carnival tonght so we had to pack down early so that all the floats could be moved into the carpark there at j24.

the traffic ( when we came out) was very busy both ways, however when we got back onto the m5 to go north again, we noticed how everyone was just sitting quietly to come off the southbound, how slow the traffic was going south and most of all how little there was.

it appears that many people have stayed home today and i must say i respect them for it. we had never seen the m5 so quiet on a saturday at that time.

our hearts go out to the people who were in the accident, unfortunatly, having used that road every day this summer, we know how treacherous it can be with the fogs suddenly appearing in banks from the drains and manmade rivers alongside it.
