What an amazing programme!
I have laughed, cried, cooed at a dozen different baby animals and hid my eyes at the sight of one wild animal killing another wild animal to survive.
I even clapped my hands in delight when a 14 YEAR OLD caterpillar finally turned into a moth!
I really need to get out more.

Quite agree; a wonderful moving programme, though my reaction wasn't quite as marked as yours. "Wisdom begins in wonder” (Socrates)

Excellent stuff. Any mention of 'king penguins always raises a titter. The "red in tooth and claw" stuff is important too, shows animals as they really are. “We gladly feast upon those who would subdue us.”

Your Mistress sounds like me, guaranteed when I see a cute animal on telly, I say to my husband "I want one of those!" Currently my wish list looks like this.. pygmy goats, chickens, micro pigs, meerkats, stoats... ~ It is always by way of pain one arrives at pleasure ~

Anything that David Attenborough narrates is just magic. Have watched alomost all his series on the beeb, think I have only missed 'The life of birds' but a friend has it on dvd. By the way watched it online in hd this morning.
I think that the bit at the end on how they did the show is great. This week sounded like Atty was a tad concerned about the guys being alone with the penguins for 6 months. They were talking about the penguins walking to the beach 'american' traffic style (on the right) when the day before they walked on the left. There is a fine line between sanity and insanity. I have a foot firmly planted either side of that line

By far the best programme on the tellybox at the moment. Already looking forward to next weeks episode "I'm as corny as Kansas in August, I'm as normal as blueberry pie...."

I have had the real privelege of meeting David Attenborough, and he is a wonderful mesmerising person, his programmes are worth the license fee on thier own |
