Thanks... my use of English isn't great tonight... it reads like having the coil fitted helped me stop smoking... sadly not ladies... sorry!! Get up. Get over it. Get on with it.

Possibly never, I didn't gain any weight after I had mine fitted, I actually lost a load! [and then gained it all back again over the next few years, but I'd put that down to my lifestyle rather than the Mirena] Edited 30 Oct 11, 11:56 PM by FrostyFingers

I had a nova-t (one without hormones) and it made my periods twice as long, and much heavier and crampier. I know that wasn't your question but thought I'd mention it. During sex I kept imagining I could feel it but I think it was in my head- I believe they are quite safe now, and I'm sure lots of women do rough sex with them. Insertion was a bitch, don't go to the clinic on a bicycle like stupid here did!

I am on my second Mirena, has been great for helping sort out Endometriosis for me, but I know it has been bad for others. My most recent partner was ten inch and he didn't have a problem with it and he said he'd had really bad problems from one in the past, but he didn't know which type. tbh, in lots of ways I'd say it's great, but it does give you serious facial hair..... ---------§-----------

I have the Mirena coil and sometimes I can bleed a little after very deep penentration. The upside is no menses and was for medical reasons so went with it. If im the only one getting bleeds will trot on back to the doc and ask why??? lol

I've found it can bleed on deep penetration, but usually after a 'gap' as it were, when little activity has been going on. ---------§-----------

That was my experience as well. No facial hair problem though. Be careful what you wish for; he might just happen.

I have a coil and not had any issues. my first coil was a copper one and made.periods heavier so after a year opted.for marinated. I had expulsion with that one. I think it was fitted by an inexperienced practitioner. Because the one I have now I've had not problems with. I avoided rough sex and extreme exercise for first 4 to 6 weeks as recommended, this is until it settles in place. I've not had kids before so my cervix is tight and I am not ideal candidate for the.coil but I wanted one for convenience.had slight discomfort during fitting.but.nothing unbearable. after 3 years its still in place the strings have curled up so no longer poke into me.or my partner. have had rough sex and tried many other things with no issues. I would just say ensure you are well lubed because the logic in me thinks if your dry it will rub and not only be.uncomfortable but may grab onto strings from coil ( not sure.if true or not just my thinking) Hope this helps

As a male I can usually feel a coil, and I find that it varies from distracting to downright painful. They certainly inhibit me from getting rough.... Actually I hate coils... both for their method of operation and their side effects. The increased risk of infection for the lady has to be the biggest downside however.
