Following the conviction of Tabak, the media have revealed that he had a fixation with breathplay porn (signifcant since the killing was by stragulation). This is unfortunately likely to strengthen the kind of public perceptions that created the Extreme Pornography ban in the first place. I was however pleased to note that the evidence of Tabak's porn habits was deemed inadmissible by the judge (hence it just came out now). He did not consider it sufficient to establish motive for homicide and had fears that such information would compromise the fairness of the trial.

If the man had a breath-play fixation that resulted in him murdering a woman by strangulation then it would be almost astonishing if he hadn't collected some breath-play porn. A murderer having a particular fixation might well cause him to accumulate porn of that "type". That does not mean that the "cause and effect" link works the other way, and that having an interest in the porn means you're a likely to become a murderer. This is the problem with the extreme pornography laws - and, to be honest, the newspaper and political perception of it. *UPDATE* Model(s) for "how to" bondage photographs (and other bondage photographs) have now been found. Thank you to all who showed interest.

<DailyMail>There's a growing body of evidence that men who commit a rape have engaged in sex itself in the months and years running up to the offence. Worryingly, many of these men have looked at images of people having sex and been aroused by these depictions of that act.
Surely something should be done to identify men who are turned on by the idea of having sex? These men pose a risk to society.

They do the same thing with console games, Highlighting that the kid who went on a rampage also had a console game that involved killing. Same with music and books in the old days Its easy to sensationalize any activity for glorified headlines. “Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
