They have changed the rubbish collection. I've been here over 4 years now and there has always been a weekly collection on a Friday. I put my rubbish out at 7.30 last Friday morning and it wasn't collected. I assumed they had changed it to every other week and brought the rubbish back in.
This morning at 7.30 i put two weeks worth of rubbish out and noticed that no one else had put rubbish out. So i checked the Dover Council web site to see what was happening.
Collections are now every other Thursday and they collected yesteday so I now have to wait for two weeks to get my rubbish taken away.
Why did they not send me a letter about the changes???

Had a similar experience in my local area recently. I was lucky though, I looked out and saw that everybody else had put out their rubbish on the "wrong day", so I followed suit. Bit worrying really, why was I the only person who did not know about the change? In terms of communication from the council I had the same experience as you, no personalised letter or pamphlet received, but an explanation was given in the council rag !

The council will come out and empty your bin individually if you ask them to, and explain why the bin wasn't out on the correct day. It's something to do with public health and environmental law.

It's a shame you didn't check the website last week or give them a call then, to ask why your rubbish wasn't collected. @The_Coven / @The_Problem_Page, you might give the advice that someone needs. / I want the "Moon on a stick and the Stars suspended from bunting". / So many haystacks, so few needles! / Conserve conversation and converse about conservation!

My council are more a council of cretins than bastards...

I blame the councillors... they were voted in, moan at them and make them accountable for the poor services, not those who have to carry out the ludicrous processes that the councillors hold meetings about, decide and pass on for others to take the flack for!

You are of course right and it's no doubt due to budget cuts.

You could, of course, put your rubbish bags in the boot of your car and transport it all to the local, council run, waste & recycling site! @The_Coven / @The_Problem_Page, you might give the advice that someone needs. / I want the "Moon on a stick and the Stars suspended from bunting". / So many haystacks, so few needles! / Conserve conversation and converse about conservation!
