new word: Schadenfreudefreude (9)

This post is on the SM/Bondage/Fetish web board.

Schaden -> adversity or harm

Freude -> joy

so we get

Schadenfreude - "pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others" (wikipedia) or "harmjoy"

So true to the German tradition of sticking words together to make really long words, we get:

Schadenfreudefreude - "pleasure derived from pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others" (me, just now) - or harmjoyjoy

I came up with this word to describe an idea:

I don't enjoy being whipped, bound or humiliated, but I'm truly, ecstatically happy when a domme is clearly happy making me suffer. It's not being a "do me" sub and it's not quite the same thing as the exertion/endurance you get in sport...

I'm just wondering if anyone else out there notices the feeling of schadenfreudefreude as well?

Shep Nachas, is a Yiddish phrase meaning takin pleasure/pride in a thing an event or achivement.

I think you could use it, in the sense of, taking pleasure in the beatin that has just been given by your Dom/me.

@emanix was talking about her word "meta-fetishist" at the London GRUE: someone who gets off on the other person getting off on something.

Perhaps my favourite line in the Simpsons relates to this. Slightly paraphrased:

Lisa: 'Dad, do you know what schadenfreude is?'

Homer: 'No, I do not know what schadenfreude is (sarcastically). Please tell me, because I'm dying to know.'

Lisa: 'It's a German term for 'shameful joy', taking pleasure in the suffering of others'

Homer: 'What's the opposite of that shameful joy thing of yours?'

Lisa: 'Sour grapes.'

Homer: 'Boy, those Germans have got a word for everything!'

Ooo lovely - a new word to describe something I feel very strongly. If we can get it widely accepted, it'll make it much easier to explain what I'm into. Not sure about the etymology of the term, but it's a definition I've long needed a word for.
