Are the burnt bits of food....

That are bad for you taste sooooooo good?

I had a beef casserole with dumplings and extra veg tonight, and some of the beef was 'well done'.

The same question applies to 'Why are things that are supposed to make us better taste so bad?'

If you are able to explain these questions please do so in a way that does not require anyone to have been to university for any time whatsoever, or even college.

Unless it is the college of life. :-)

I sat down and pondered this question, trying to find a way of explaining my thoughts on this subject in terms that you would understand, and I think I have cracked it.

I dunno! ;)

Who said well done beef is bad for you? It's still beef and about as bad for you as the not so well done parts, unless it was part charcoal, which could possibly be not as good for you as non-charcoaled beef, but it can't be that bad.

Can you tell I'm bored and have nothing better to do with my life?
Well nothing more important to do.
Well nothing I can be bothered doing to do.
And you get to suffer my writings because of it.

I lost the plot at the end of the first line!

I never have a plot, I just make it up as I go along.

Mmmm. Dumplings.

Thin people just don't get flour and suet.

More fools them.

NEVER trust a skinny chef or cook. :-)

There is a fine line between sanity and insanity. I have a foot firmly planted either side of that line :-D

James Martin is the only TV Chef I watch. A big Yorkshire man who knows how to serve up a good portion and is good with desserts.

D'y'know I have dozens of recipe books and hundreds of recipes that I liked the look of.

One of these days I WILL try to make one of them.

Fruitcake, pumpkin pie and flapjacks are what I have tried and they are all good.

Still have not found out what my nan's 'secret' ingredient was for her fruit cakes.

'Fruit cakes' are also what I would call REAL birthday cakes, also 'spice cakes' what had icing on for birthdays and xmas.

Just wish nan could have made the cake for my daughter's birth (as she has not been christened). Maybe I might have been able to find out her secret ingredient.

Now that sounds like the best answer.

To me that is. :-)
